Donald Lewis

Donald “Bud” Frank Lewis, 67, of Southbury, passed away peacefully on October 9. He was son the late Nancy Lewis and Donald Lewis, and was born January 4, 1954, in Danbury.

Donald graduated from Newtown High School in 1972. He worked for the family’s business, Newtown Refuse, and then he graduated from the Connecticut State Police Academy in 1979. He worked many years at Fairfield Hills Hospital Police Department in Newtown. During his time of service, he received a Medal of Valor for saving a man from the second story of a burning building. Donald transferred to Southern Connecticut State University Police Department and retired in 1999 after 20 years of service.

Donald is survived by his two children, Heather Esposito, and her husband Jesse, of Southbury, and Karl Lewis, and his wife Melissa, of Woodbury; his six grandchildren, Hailey Dimitratos, Brandon Lewis, Devin Esposito, Christian Lewis, Alexa Lewis, and Domenic Esposito; his two brothers, Mike Lewis, and wife Sandy, of New Milford, and Allan Lewis and late wife, Lynn Lewis, of Sandy Hook; and many nieces and nephews.

Anyone wishing to pay their respects is welcome to join the family for a graveside service at the Newtown Village Cemetery, 22 Elm Drive, Newtown, on Friday, October 15, at 1 pm.

Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown is serving the family.
