To the Editor:

I’m writing to endorse Chris Smith for a second term on the Legislative Council representing District 3.

I’ve known Chris for 20 years, and in that time, I’ve come to know him as a person of honesty and integrity, and one who gives careful and deliberate thought to the issues Newtown faces.

Primary among these is his support of the Board of Education initiatives for special education services. In addition, he has been a vocal supporter of the plastic bag ban, and the ordinance currently under review to ban the open carry of firearms on town property. In service to this, he is open to hearing the continuing debate on this issue and doing any additional information gathering if necessary.

Chris understands the necessity for fiscal responsibility, while at the same time knowledgeably helps steer the town’s financial expenditures into areas that will truly make a good quality of life for Newtown residents.

Join me in supporting and re-electing Chris Smith for Legislative Council on November 2 in his continued drive to advocate for the citizens of Newtown.
