To the Editor:

It is my great pleasure to support Ed Randall for re-election to the Board of Assessment Appeals and John Fletcher for the Board of Finance.

Ed Randall has lived in Newtown for more than 35 years. He was a teacher for 40 years. He also worked for years as a real estate agent, so he is very familiar with valuing property. He enjoyed his first term on BOAA, particularly because he understood the balance between the needs of individual taxpayers and the needs of all taxpayers. Ed has an intrinsic sense of decency and fairness. He is a kind, thoughtful, and intelligent man who brings these qualities to the BOAA. Please join me in voting for Ed!

John Fletcher has lived in Newtown with his family for almost 20 years. He believes in investing in education, not just because we as a society need to educate our children well, but also because a quality school system increases the value of our community. John also believes in fiscal responsibility and applying that restraint to both short-term and long-term financial goals.

John is a perfect fit for the BOF. He has two finance degrees from Ivy League schools. He has worked in finance for more than 30 years. His vast financial experience includes focuses on business plans, budgets, revenue, expense, and capital investments. He will bring that fantastic skill set to the BOF, and be able to adapt those skills to all issues facing the BOF, all while being mindful of all stakeholders. John is also a thoughtful, caring, approachable person who actively listens. He will be available to address voter thoughts and concerns. Please vote for John for BOF. He’s the right choice.
