To the Editor:

Keep Joan Plouffe on the Police Commission.

Some people are born to care more, to give more, to want more for their fellow citizens. Joan Plouffe is one of those people. From the first time I met Joan, it was clear that she was passionate about Newtown, so it was no surprise when our First Selectman encouraged her to apply to fill the remainder of his term on the Police Commission.

Joan has excelled in this role and brings a unique and important perspective as the sole female in a male-dominated field. Joan worked tirelessly to rally support for the much-needed new police station, and if reelected, she will continue to be a wonderful steward of the project. Joan is a value added candidate who brings her extensive legal knowledge and incredible intellect to the table.

Community matters, and Joan embodies this belief, always listening, learning, and thinking about the impact of her decisions. Not only the impact to the community, but also on the men and women who serve us in the Newtown Police Department. We are lucky to have this bright and amazing woman serving our town, and I hope you will join me in voting for Joan!
