Elections Have Consequences XXXIII

To The Editor:

In 2015, Republicans opened the door to Trump and invited him in. They soon discovered that not only was he not housebroken, but he was also unteachable. His overriding philosophy of “I win, everyone else loses”, took over the party. They invested in shovels and did their best to clean up after him.

After he lost the 2020 election, threw a major tantrum and tried to stop the peaceful transfer of power, the party had a legal recourse to permanently evict him. All the pieces were in place, they just needed a few more Republican Senators to stand up, do the right thing and vote for impeachment. Unfortunately for all of us, they wimped out. Instead, Republicans invested heavily in air fresheners and learned to be extra careful as to where they stepped.

Once back in office he literally began to knock down the house. His primary focus over the last two years has been enriching himself, his family and already wealthy friends, amassing power, intimidating allies and kissing up to dictators. He’s using taxpayer dollars to run propaganda ads about himself and now there is talk of live streaming a public execution — welcome to North Korea.

Trump keeps asking us to pretend he is on the ballot — let’s do just that and let’s also remember that as long as he is in charge Republicans will continue to let him do whatever he wants, regardless of the damage he is doing to our country — there are not enough air fresheners available to cover up the stench.

Join us October 17 for Rock this Democracy — no Kings Rally and march to the flagpole, 1:30 to 3 pm, 3 Main Street.

Early voting starts October 19, 19 days till November 3.
