Boys’ Golfers Post Victories

Newtown High School’s boys’ golf team reeled off six straight victories, including a 183-203 victory over host New Fairfield, at The Club at River Oaks in Sherman on October 10. Charlie Hanson had a 50, Colin Luby a 45, Carter Briggs 46, Josh Glass 45, and Dan Kellerman a 47 for the Nighthawks.

The Nighthawks were coming off a win at Bunnell of Stratford, at Oronoque Country Club on October 6. The Hawks shot a 178 for the victory. Bunnell has just one golfer. Hanson was medalist with a 39, Luby carded a 40, Briggs 46, Glass 53, and Quinn Kull a 57.

In an October 4 home victory over Stratford, Newtown finished with a score of 169 and Stratford recorded 231. Glass was medalist for the first time with a 40, Luby shot a 41, Briggs 42, Kellerman 46, and Matt LoKey had a 49.

After home matches with Pomperaug of Southbury and Weston October 11 and 12, the Hawks are to compete in the South-West Conference championship match, at Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course in Fairfield on Monday, October 17, starting at 8 am.
