Early All Hollow’s Eve Returning A To Suitably Named Woodbury Neighborhood

WOODBURY — The Old Woodbury Historical Society together with The Glebe House Museum & Gertrude Jekyll Garden is planning another spirited Halloween event for the Hollow Road area in Woodbury.

Following their successful joint event last year, the two organizations are teaming up again to present spooky tours of the Old Burying Ground, The Glebe House Museum and Hurd House Museum. A special guest appearance by Moll Cramer, the notorious Witch of Woodbury, is also expected.

This event will take place from 5 to 8 pm on Saturday, October 25. Cost is $2 except for those in costume, who will get in for free.

The Glebe House is also sponsoring a Scarecrow Contest. Organizers are looking for all scarecrows, large and small, silly or frightening. Scarecrows may be entered into the contest no later than October 22, and can be entered by anyone – groups, individuals, or businesses. Judging will be the morning of October 25, prizes will be awarded in many categories, and winners will be announced at the Glebe House at 5 pm.

For visitors who can’t get enough Halloween fun, the entire town of Woodbury will be in the Halloween spirit that night, with events at Nonnewaug High School before “All Hollow’s Eve” and the Lion’s Club’s “Haunted Hay Ride” following it.

Parking for “All Hollow’s Eve” is available in Hollow Park, off Route 6. Visitors should plan to check in first at the Glebe House, where they will be guided into the past by costumed spirits who will teach them much about the unexpected Woodbury that used to be.

For more information about this event or the other programs of the Glebe House Museum & Gertrude Jekyll Garden or the Old Woodbury Historical Society call the Glebe House at 203-263-2855.
