To the Editor:

Jordana Bloom is a tireless, dedicated, passionate advocate for our community. We are fortunate that this brilliant, Ivy League educated, former small business owner, and mom of four grown children wants to become our new town clerk.

Jordana is full of ideas and always steps up to run with those ideas. She gets things done. On numerous occasions I have seen Jordana identify a problem, issue, or need and jump right in to get it resolved. She is a strong leader and a team player. She is generous with her time and her compassion.

True to character, Jordana has great ideas about improving the town clerk’s office. She believes that the office is the hub of the municipal center, and she will make it a welcoming and user-friendly place to come to transact business, obtain absentee ballots and dog licenses, file real estate transactions, and seek help and information. Jordana has attention to detail and has high standards of excellency and competence. She will, for example, be sure ballots are made with accuracy, that vital records are kept properly and with care, and that patrons leave having had their needs met in a kind and efficient manner.

Always civic minded, Jordana also has some wonderful ideas for having the office be more interactive with the community. She plans to explore the idea of engaging high school students with the town clerk’s office in an effort to help them learn about town government.

It is always healthy to have some fresh ideas in our town government, and to always strive to grow. The town clerk’s office will thrive with Jordana as our new town clerk.

While an elected member of the Newtown Police Commission, this letter represents my individual opinion.
