Youth of all faith traditions in grades 7-12 are invited to participate in Fairfield East Interfaith Youth Hangout, a special event being planned for Sunday, November 3. Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street, will host the event, which is scheduled for 3 to 6 pm.

The event is open to United Church of Christ youth from the Fairfield East Association as well as ecumenical and interfaith partners. Youth must be accompanied by an adult, and registration is requested by October 29.

The gathering will include welcome remarks, a blessing, and readings from sacred scriptures. There will be a mix-it-up activity, with team building games, and conversation featuring a panel, breakout groups, and programming for youth advisors.

The focus of the event is to build relationships among neighbors from a variety of faith traditions, examine stereotypes, and explore skills to confront microaggressions. Attendees will also engage in conversation about spiritual practices in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

There will also be refreshments, including halal and kosher foods, before closing with a prayer.

To register or for additional information, contact Reverend Kristen Provost Switzer, minister of youth and mission at Newtown Congregational Church, at 203-426-9024 or revkps@gmail.com. Registration is also available at ctucc.org; click on Events, and then move the calendar to the November 2019 events.

The event is sponsored by Connecticut Conference in partnership with Newtown Congregational Church.
