Girls Rainbow Rockets vs Fighting Irish: For the Fighting Irish, Shannon Kelleher scored the decisive goal in the game against a strong Rainbow Rocket defense. Abby Stites was incredible in the goal. Sienna Harper and Katelyn Marcum helped control the middle of the filed to seal the Irish victory. The Rainbow Rockets put forth great defensive effort led by Julia Kaiser and Katie Larson. Vivian Meehan and Scarlett Long were strong on offense and goaltending was very sharp by Julia Riani.

Lightning Pumpkins 3, Tigers 1: Katie Teixeira led the way for the Lightning Pumpkins with 2 goals and great support from Alexis Woods and Melissa Schnee. Also contributing to the great game were Anna Metzker, Ella Wanzer, Molly Connors and Lacy Newton. Kyra Masone scored the Tigers one goal with strong support from Emily Litke and Olivia McAndrew on offense.

U8

Wildcats 2, The Lightning Strikes 0: In a tightly played game that was scoreless at halftime, for the Wildcats, Laura Augenbraun and Kaley Meisenheimer led the attack with a goal each. Rylee Harrell and Shauna Tucker both had several great passes earning one assist each. Erin Phaneuf demonstrated impressive ball control while leading the Wildcat defense. For The Lightning Strikes, Mary Sortino and Riley Burns played clean in goal, while Hailey Wilson and Lily Charles were strong defensively. Paige Psichipaidas kept up the pressure on offense, but unfortunately The Lightning Strikes could not find the net.

Blue Breeze 1, Mustangs 0: In a very evenly played and exciting match, Mary Celentano scored the lone goal to lead the Blue Breeze, with help from Sophia Bajcer and Natalene Sim, who led several attacks on offense. The staunch Blue Breeze defense turned back numerous attacks and was spearheaded by the outstanding play of Charlotte Branchflower and Gabriella Sadowski. In net, Maddie Stites and Corrin Bottom were exceptional, stopping several scoring chances. For the Mustangs, Mopsey Seaver and Holly Ankers lead the offensive effort with several shots on goal. Olivia Oltran and Emily Tressler controlled midfield. Angela Carriero and Nia Orakwue had many saves in goal.

Net Rippers 4, Lighting 3: In a seesaw game, the Net Rippers slid by the Lighting by a score of 4-3. For the Net Rippers, Faith O’Hara was able to break away to net three for her team. Julia Klein also found the back of the net with an upper 90 bullet. Gwen Drew was a force to be reckoned with on the field, while Julia Klein and Julia Kanaan did a great job in defense. Amanda Conrod had another stellar day in goal.

For the Lighting, Carlie Smith continued her offensive prowess by netting two goals, while her offensive mate Elizabeth Texieria contributed the final goal. Cameron Powers, Pam Lalli and Katie Viselli all played nice offense, moving the ball well up and down the field. The defensive unit was anchored by Ciera Jaehn, Nicole Fisher, and Ellie Moxham, all working hard to keep the ball out of the Lighting’s net.

U10

American Eagles 3, Twisters 2: For the American Eagles, Beth Mattola scored one goal with the assist help of Caroline Viselli, Hana Rosenthal contributed one on a nice breakaway, assisted Grace Shotes, who played an overall outstanding game for the final goal. Izzy Kaiser, Jordan Williams, and Olivia Elkins anchored the defensive unit, while Kaysie Fisher played outstanding goal during the first half. For the Twisters, Camryn Findley dazzled the crowd with phenomenal footwork to score the first goal. Cailin Blessey provided the ultimate in defense to protect goalie Julia Raigosa. Marit Lyon scored the second goal with a powerful drive up the field, assisted by Emma DaSilva.

Dynamites 4, Weston 0: In the first half, the girls found the net early when Brooke Antous crossed the ball to Haley Harkins for the first goal. Shots were also made by Lu Hage, Alison Kelleher, Brooke Antous, Lauren Carrino ,and Haley Harkins. Katie Sailer made the second goal with an assist from Rebecca Hage to bring the score to 2-0 and Rebecca scored soon after on an assist from Haley Harkins. Grace Corcoran, Lu Hage and Jenna Lavelle played hard on defense to keep the ball on the Weston side. The second half opened with shots on goal by Audrey Benson. Keeley Kortze, Audrey Benson, Brooke Antous, Rebecca Hage and Katie Sailer all stepped up the attack, with Katie hitting the ball hard past the keeper for the fourth and final goal of the game. Weston managed to get the ball on the Newtown side and Lauren Carrino made the save.

Golden Eagles 7, Dynamites 2: The Dynamites were led by Marjie DeWitt and Sarah Tressler, who exploded into the back of the net. Jenna Gonski was a force early in goal. Briana Castellano showed some great footwork all over the field and Sarah Brittin was a dynamo for the Dynamites in the backfield.

The Golden Eagles found the limelight as Emma Curtis, Zoe Freedman hit their stride and the net. Sydney Howard also struck the big money with her first goal of the season. Kayleigh Nolan had the wind in her hair and an adrenaline surge to keep her engines going strong.

Twisters 1, Smurfs 0: Jackie Matthews scored the Twisters’ goal against a strong opponent. Janyce Toth ,Colby Troy, and Liz Weisberger were lockdown on defense. Heidi Poarch and Emma Stierle had their best games of the season. Eirenie Athanasoulis and Jenna Ehnot played well offensively for the Smurfs, and midfielders Katelyn Henchcliffe and Erin Walsh showed exceptional effort and skillful teamwork attempting to set up scoring opportunities, but came up a little short in the loss.

Newtown Sparks 6, Ridgefield Kicks 0: The Sparks dominated the field offensively against the Ridgefield Kicks with six goals scored. Two goals by Lauren Adams with an assists from Emily Celentano put the Sparks on the board in the first half with another goal by Carly Swierbut. Gabrielle Reisert started the second half off quickly with a great move upfield for the Sparks fourth goal. With a third goal for the hat trick, Lauren Adams scored on an assist from Izzy Mawdsley. Playing an incredible game and scoring her second goal of the game was Carly Swierbut with an assist from Kristen Cirone. Strong defensive presence by Kiera Sughrue and Linsday Merrifield kept Ridgefield out of scoring range.

U11

Newtown Panthers 3; New Canaan Charlton 1: The Panthers went to New Canaan on Sunday ready to play and came away with the win. In the first half, Charlie Condon put the Panthers on the board first by taking a tough rebound off the keeper after a great strike from Alexis Mason. The Panthers second goal, also in the first half, came from Mason as she took the ball to the goal and made a blistering shot that caught nothing but net. New Canaan got their only goal at the end of the first half, having been frustrated by the terrific goal keeping of Kira Kelly.

Kira kept up her great goalkeeping in the second half, not allowing any further scores by the tough Charlton players. The Panthers sealed the win with their third and decisive goal after Anna Moscovici stole a pass from the New Canaan club and put the ball on the left foot of Mason, who put the ball into the net. Audrey Sedensky anchored the defensive, stopping ball after ball brought into the Panthers’ end by the Charlton offense. Mary Hufziger, Diana Kirkman, Catherine Shaw, and Greta Staubly all contributed to the win.

U12

Newtown Thunder 2, Stamford 2: Newtown held a 2-1 advantage until late in the second half when Stamford was able to forge the tie. Ally Manfredi was able to break free in the first half and deposited the ball into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. Defender Meghan Kelleher found herself up field and made the most of it with her first career goal for a 2-0 lead. The defense was anchored by Lauren Beier and Olivia Caplan , with Steph Carr strong in goal. Julia Sughrue and Claire Beiter controlled the midfield.

Ridgefield 3, Newtown Thunder 0: Newtown challenged a talented Ridgefield squad, but ultimately came up short. Jess Maturo and Hailey Conrad led the offensive charge with support from midfielders Kendra Dunnigan and Meghan Doyle. Emily Montoya and Meghan Kelleher secured the defense against a relentless attack.

Newtown Dynamite 3, Fairfield 0: The Newtown Dynamite traveled to Fairfield on Sunday for a game against the Fairfield Blue. The Dynamite came out strong on offense, with crisp passing and a number of shots on goal. While Newtown was on the offensive for much of the first half, the game was scoreless until Chloe Rogalin was able to hit the back of the net for the first goal.

In the second half, the aggressive Dynamite offense continued their mission. Mallory Lobuglio was able to convert a nice pass play from Cassidy Keller to Chloe Rogalin for the second goal. The final goal of the afternoon was scored by Chloe Rogalin and assisted by Mia Katsuleres. Ashling Sugarman, Alexandra Manoni and Sophia Albano were also key in the offensive effort. Defensively for the Dynamite, Katie Elkins had her strongest game of the season and with the help of Brianna Lutz and Amanda Albanesi the shutout was preserved.

U14

Chaos 3, Twisters 2: For Chaos, goals were scored by Sierra Mather, Morgan Goldstein, and Jesse Sailer. Allie Indelicato, Jesse Sailer and Sierra Mather each had an assist. Strong midfield play came from Chrissy Moore and Danielle Agugliaro. Kayla DiSibio played an all-around great game, while Margot Elkins and Emily Toby helped keep the opponents offensive at bay with strong defensive play. For the Twisters, goals were scored by Tonya Tucker and Jenna Hansen. Stephanie Devaney picked up the effort in midfield with good all around play by Taylor Clomiro, Lindsey Gallagher, and Samantha Olah.

Rockets 5, Smiters 1: For the Rockets, Jess Coughlin and Hannah Booth had two goals each and Emily Jerris scored one goal. Danielle Scarpa and Megan Milano had strong games on defense. Chelsea Piccirillo scored, while Amanda Martinez provided lots of offensive pressure. Molly Begg and Stephanie Haas were strong at midfield. Emma DeFlumeri was tough on defense, and Haley Taylor played well in goal.

Smiters 1, Twisters 0: For the Smiters, Carly Grossano scored the lone goal to deliver the win. Megan Nahmias and Kaitlyn McNichols were great at midfield. Bridget McDonald was strong on defense, and Geralyn Klein withstood late pressure in goal to preserve the victory. For the Twisters, persistent midfield play was shown by Caitlin Filiato, Mary Kate Malin, and Rachael DiCristina. Anita Luxkaranayagam provided excellent defensive play, while outstanding goaltending was delivered by Sinead Flanagan.

Boys

U8

Warriors 1, Madmen 0: The game’s lone goal was scored by Bryce Benson. The Warriors’ offensive effort was led by Ryan Poupon, John Sullivan, and Nick Preszler. Jake Pare and Ryder Palumbo played stellar defense. The Madmen were led by exceptional goalie play by Jonathan Taylor and Tucker Dupuy. Daniel DeBartolomeo and Steven Leuci played a strong defensive game. Chris Shaker, Brandon Akbas, and William Tainter-Gilbert teamed up to lead the Madmen’s offensive attack.

Vipers 3, Team Eight 2: Thomas Armstrong provided answering goals for the Vipers and William Swierbut scored the go-ahead goal in a breakaway triggered by Brandon Lutz. Matthew Jacobs made a number of heads-up plays and broke up a late game attack by Team 8 that would have tied the game.

Champions 1, Golden Eagles 1: The Champions played with 100 percent effort in their first tie of the year. Zachary Masone scored the Champions’ lone goal to equalize the game. Matthew Weisgerber played excellent in goal to keep a barrage of shots out of the net. Elijah Baraw and Brendan O’Neill played hard on dDefense, chasing down balls and clearing them to open teammates. Milan Chand and Miller Tetreault worked the midfield with the same kind of effort the whole team demonstrated throughout the game.

The Golden Eagles extended their unbeaten streak to five straight games with their first tie of the season with another stellar game of passing and teamwork. The boys created multiple scoring chances that included hitting the post several times and the crossbar once. The lone goal came from the foot of Hunter Kirkman. Colin Adis and Michael Elston solidified the midfield throughout the game and Sachin Mansukhani made some great saves in goal. It was another hard-fought game with great sportsmanship displayed from both sides.

 Nighthawks 1, Team Seven 1: Team Seven played well and fought hard from the first whistle until the last. Defensively, Alex DaSilva and Joseph Premus had an incredibly strong game, while the goalies came up with some big saves at the end of the third and fourth quarters to keep the game tied. Offensively, Arav Dave and Joseph Premus combined for the only goal for Team Seven, through a lot of hard work and a never-give-up attitude. Max Hanson, Justin Peck, and Logan McAloon all played well in the midfield, hustling after every ball and challenging players throughout the game.

The Nighthawks played well, but only Duncan O’Leary was able to find the net. Torin Kearney, Zachary Reilly and Andrew Bazuro led the Nighthawk defense. Colin Zhang and Jake Mailloux were all over the field and played with great effort. Both teams demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship.

Golden Eagles 1, Madmen 0: The Golden Eagles won their third straight game with a third shutout. In a back and forth battle that seemed destined for a tie; the only goal was scored by Markus Paltauf on a deflection. Devin Johnson had the assist when Markus redirected his shot into the net. Drew Poseno and Hunter Kirkman hustled throughout the game and Colin Marshall had some fantastic saves in goal late in the game. Chris Shaker, Marlon Medina, and Brandon Akbas led the Madmen on the offensive side with great hustle and determination. Connor Faxon and Andy Miller were forces on the defensive side of the field in this hard-fought game.

U10

Newtown Vipers 0, Norwalk Blue Devils 0: The two undefeated teams in their league battled in Norwalk in the most challenging and nail-biting match for the Vipers to date. Although the end result was scoreless, the battle was fiercely fought. The Vipers became a fortress of determination in fending off a squad with a considerably more physical playing style. Newtown was anchored by dynamite keeper CJ Trivers, who blocked more than ten shots plus three free kicks. The Blue Devils were unable to penetrate the rock solid defensive line of Adam Farley, Travis Huzina, Danny Schriber, and Jackson Dooley.

Midis Sean Arnold, Jack McDermott, Dylan Sock, Declan Sughrue, Owen Sullivan, and Henry Vaughan collectively dropped back to protect the net and brilliantly fed the ball up field for several breakaways. Bryce Bisset commanded the offense with four solid shots on goal. Schrieber, Vaughan, and Huzina all had many strikes at goal, but missing the mark. The heart-stopping drama was capped off in the finial seconds when Bisset drilled a shot only to have it deflected, ending up on the foot of Sughrue who superbly one timed the ball, to be saved by the keeper.

U12

Newtown Yellow 1, Easton-Redding White 6: Playing the first half of the game with nine players vs Redding’s 11, Newtown did not see the inside of the netting until the last minute of the match, when a long ball by defenseman Charles Romano sailed over heads, just under the crossbar and over the keeper’s fingertips for the team’s first regular-season goal. Once the team was at full strength in second half, Felix Summ, Justin Cicarelli, Theodore Silverman and Romano kept the very effective Easton-Redding offense to one goal, while Colin Villamana and John Bienkowski moved the ball and shot well against a skilled goalie.

U13

Strikers 2, Weston 1: The Strikers scored early on a goal by Tony Leonardi, but Weston tied it up before the half. In the second half, James Carney’s amazing corner kick bounced off the crossbar and into the goal to secure the lead. Scott Martin was strong on defense.

U14

Titans 6, Predators 1: The Titans’ Elliot Bennet was the first to score. The Titans had good ball possession with solid work by Curtis Giles in midfield and an assist. Henry Lyon of the Predators came back with the equalizer. Predators’ Erik and Peter Mihuk performed well with good overall play and Jacob Anastasov became dangerous with some good attacks, but these where stopped by excellent work in the goal by Titans’ Akash Ahuja. The Titans picked up pace with energetic Korey Brodsky in midfield soon resulting in additional goals by Elliot Bennet , Kevin Arthur, Erik Von Schleusingen, and a final goal by Arthur with a great assist from Jeroen Schickendantz.

A-Team 4, Bench Warmers 1: Casper De Wit had the most brilliant goal of the year, flashing across the middle and diving to redirect a pass from Michael Biancardi. The A-Team offense was led by scores from Charlie Soto, Tim Vander Have, Dillon Palumbo, and Sawyer Conrad. Tommie Shaker, Gaustav Mitra, and Noah Orakwue anchored the defense. The Bench Warmers were led by the scoring of Dylan Solano. Christian Lestik and Alister Sore displayed solid midfield play and Matt Hess had a fine game in goal.

Titans 2, Benchwarmers 3: Kevin Arther and Elliot Bennet scored the two goals for the Titans. In midfield ,Titan’s Erik Von Schleusingen excelled with good defense and precision passing. Maksymillan Kozio did a really good job in the goal, stopping a few strong attacks by the Benchwarmers. The Benchwarmers’ defense did a great job at keeping the game close to ensure the win with Lucas LaDestro and Andrew Jancodoing covering a lot of ground. Alister Sore scored twice and Douglas Raigosa scored the final winning goal for the Benchwarmers
