To The Editor:

You may know what they say about doing the same thing over-and-over again and expecting a different result, so do not expect a more affordable Newtown if we keep the same majority in the state government. As an independent voter, I urge my fellow Newtowners to support every Republican candidate on the ballot because of these facts: Our homes are now reassessed every 4 years instead of 10, Connecticut is in the top ten most expensive states for electricity (30-50% above the national average), and has consistently been in the top ten states taxpayers have been fleeing. A whopping 37% of Connecticut voters have considered leaving our state. CNBC ranked us 38th for economy, and 37th for cost of living. Last week’s headline in our area’s daily newspaper read “Poverty in Connecticut Reaches a Seven-year High”. Every candidate from the Democrat party insists they will make our state more affordable, including the governor, but they are the majority in the state’s government, so why haven’t they done so? If they remain the majority, why will things be different this time around? And most importantly, what have they been waiting for?

Mitch Bolinsky has been a fiscal watchdog for us, and Amybeth Laroche vows to stop wasteful spending. Please support them with your vote, and help your own family, as well as our town and state.
