Nighthawk Swimming And Diving Team Competes Against Bethel-Immaculate

Newtown High School’s girls’ swimming and diving team defeated the Bethel-Immaculate of Danbury co-op 97-74 on October 23.

Newtown’s 200 yard medley relay team of Brianna Deierlein, Cate Fischer, Norah Kolb, and Caroline Mahoney was first in 1:57.09.

The 200 freestyle winner was Payton Bradley in a time of 2:08.65. Deierlein came in first in the 200 individual medley race in 2:15.88. Mahoney was first in the 50 free in 25.37.

Diver Ella Hall was first with a score of 162.10, and Julia Calabrese was second with a score of 110.18.

Out of the diving break, the Nighthawks continued their success in the swim events as Sofia Doersch won the 100 butterfly race, clocking in at 1:04.12. Bradley was first in the 100 free in 57.52. Anna Shew had Newtown’s fastest time in the 500, making her final touch in at 5:59.90 for second place.

The 200 free relay team of Bradley, Diellza Limani, Kolb, and Deierlein was first in 1:46.51.

Mahoney won the 100 backstroke event, clocking in at 1:03.61. Fischer was second in the 100 breaststroke race in a time of 1:13.33.

The 400 free relay contingent of Deierlein, Shayna Millard, Doersch, and Bradley came in first in 3:54.23.
