Mary Ann Snieckus

Mary Ann Snieckus, 56, died peacefully, October 23, in the presence of family, at her spiritual oasis, Camp Wuds ‘n’ Sun. She was born February 5, 1956, in Waterbury, to Mary and Bronislaw Snieckus of Woodbury.

Ms Snieckus was a recently retired photography and applied technology teacher at Newtown High School. She was an employee of The Bee Publishing Company, working as a reporter for The Weekly Star, in the 1980s.

She was an extraordinary mother, teacher, friend, and relative, and an inspiration to everyone who knew her.

She is survived by two daughters, Rishona and Shani Hines; and, in her words, “too many wacky but close siblings and kinfolk to list here.” Two sisters, Joan Snieckus and Karen Shelnut, and a brother, John Snieckus, predeceased Ms Snieckus.

A memorial tribute took place October 27. The disbursement of ashes will be at the convenience of the family.

Memorial college scholarship donations for Rishona and Shani may be sent to: Mark Snieckus, 104 Cowles Road, Woodbury CT 06798. Arrangements are being coordinated by family at this address.
