Safe Haven Third Annual Art Show & Gala, November 10-11

SOUTHBURY — Safe Haven’s Third Annual Art Show and Sale will open with a gala celebration, 7-10 pm, on Saturday November 10, at B’nai Israel, 444 Main Street North in Southbury. The show will then continue, free of admission charge, on Sunday, November 11, from 10 am until 4 pm.

Safe Haven provides free, comprehensive services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.  Services include 24-hour crisis hotlines, emergency shelter for battered women and their children, individual and peer group counseling, child advocacy and counseling, medical advocacy, legal advocacy for both criminal and civil matters, information and referral, Hispanic outreach and community education.

The gala will include wine, beer and hearty hors d’oeuvres, and a chance to view original paintings and photography by more than 30 accomplished artists. The artists are donating 30 percent of any art sold during the show to Safe Haven.

There will also be a silent auction of more than 20 works of art donated by the artists. All proceeds from the silent auction will go directly to Safe Haven.

Noted artist Alain Picard will be selling prints of the featured piece, as well as some of his other pieces. Mr Picard’s work has been featured in such publications as The Artist’s Magazine and Pastel Journal. He has garnered top awards throughout the Northeast and The Artist’s Magazine highlighted Mr Picard as one of 20 contemporary artists “On the Rise.”

Tickets for the gala are $35 per person. Tickets are available at the Safe Haven Thrift Shop in Bennett Square, 88 Main Street South in Southbury, and will also be available at the door the night of the ent.

“Last year’s event was very successful and we are hoping to make this years even better,” said Susan McNeil, show chairman. “We have many returning award winning artists and we hope to give you an opportunity to find that special piece of art work for your home or office. It should be a great evening.”

All proceeds will benefit victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Southbury and surrounding towns. For more information call 203-575-0388.
