HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS GRISWOLD MUSEUM

SS/JAR SET 11/7

OLD LYME, CONN. — The Florence Griswold Museum’s “Home for the Holidays” exhibition has become a festive Connecticut tradition. For nine years this magical mix of historic room settings and artful creations by prominent Connecticut designers has transformed the “Home of American Impressionism” into a holiday showcase. This year, to accommodate the growing number of visitors, the exhibition has been extended to six weeks and the designer rooms have been moved to Marshfield, a Colonial Revival house connected to the museum’s new Krieble Gallery. Two special rooms have been added to enchant even the youngest visitor.

In addition, the grounds are also trimmed and bedecked to fit the joyous season. The exhibit is on view November 23 through January 5.

During this wondrous season the first floor of the house, now the Florence Griswold Museum, reflects the camaraderie and bohemian spirit of Miss Florence and the artists of the colony. The colony’s spirit of creativity continues in modern guise at the Marshfield House. Five prominent Connecticut designers create festive installations with surprising twists on holiday themes. Adorned with elaborate decorations, garlands, evergreens and glittering lights and glowing with the warmth of the season, each room reflects the designer’s personality and flair.
