DANBURY — The 17th Annual Festival of Trees to benefit Ann’s Place will be presented at Danbury Sports Dome, 25 Shelter Rock Lane in Danbury, November 22-24. Raising more than $3.1 million since 2003 to support area cancer patients, it is the largest annual fundraiser for Ann’s Place.

The weekend will start on a high note, with a Mistletoe and Martinis party from 6:30-10:30 pm on Friday night. Guests will sip delicious specialty drinks and join organizers in a tribute toast to Waterworks and The Benefactors Society, this year’s honorees.

Live music will be performed by Rob Fried and Band Central’s Rock and Soul Review, savory dishes from Some Things Fishy will be served, and a hand-crafted mahogany bar and elegant footed tub will be among the items in an auction and raffles. Holiday or cocktail attire is requested, as are reservations as soon as possible.

Tickets are $100 and available at annsplacefestivaloftrees.org/opening-night.

Festival days — Saturday and Sunday, November 23-24 — will be filled with live entertainment on the hour, more than 100 holiday trees — including at least six that are being decorated by Newtown families and businesses, amazing prizes, grand raffles, treasures in the Market Place, Quilter’s Corner, and handmade items for shopping along with specialty vendors, artisans, and local craftsmen. Get in the holiday spirit with us and join the excitement and fun!

Children and adults will be dazzled by the magic of Tom Pesce on Saturday, with seatings at 11 am and 1 pm. The little ones can also head over to the Children’s Winter Village, featuring a bounce house, Santa, crafts, coloring station, face painting, tattoos, and more.

Festival activities run from 10 am to 4 pm Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $10, $5 for senior citizens, and free for ages 2 and under. Visit annsplacefestivaloftrees.org or call 203-790-6568 for advance tickets or further information.

Also part of this year’s Festival is Taps & Trees, a 21-and-over event with live music, food by Walsh Catering, and plenty of craft brews. This event is planned for Saturday from 6:30 to 10 pm, also within the Sports Dome.

The Billy Michaels Holiday Cavalcade will perform, a fiddling contest and Dan’s Garage Band will also provide music. Guests will also be invited to view the 100-plus trees displayed as part of the Festival of Trees.

Tickets are $65 in advance or $75 at the door, and the first 300 guests will receive a souvenir glass.

For more information and tickets, visit annsplacefestivaloftrees.org/taps-trees.

Proceeds from all Festival of Trees events support the free cancer support services offered at Ann’s Place, the nonprofit organization based in Danbury that offers counseling, support groups, wellness activities, referrals to community resources, and educational programs to regional residents.

Ann’s Place is counting on another Festival of Trees with more than 100 ornately decorated holiday trees, among other offerings. The largest annual fundraiser for the nonprofit organization will return to Danbury Sports Dome the weekend of November 22-24. —Sloan T. Howard photo/courtesy Ann’s Place
