Newtown United Methodist Church is offering a new event this holiday season — A Christmas Celebration — timed to lead right into Saturday night’s Sandy Hook Center tree lighting and the start of Advent.

Readers of all ages are invited to join NUMC members for a children’s program presented by The Singing Principal from 3:30 until 4:20 pm. The program will be in the hall of the church, 92 Church Hill Road. Registration is required, and available at numc.us.

A Carol Sing will then follow, from 4:30 until 5:30 pm, for which no registration is needed. All are invited to join church members in their sanctuary for the sing-along.

All will then bundle up and take the short walk from the church down the hill to Sandy Hook Center, where the tree there will be lit at 6 pm.
