Openings In CT Master Chorale

The Connecticut Master Chorale, under the direction of Tina Johns Heidrich, has openings for an alto, a tenor and a bass for the upcoming spring concert season.

The Chorale will present the dramatic oratorio “Hora Novissima (The Newest Hour)” by the American composer Horatio Parker in March. Although seldom heard today, this was the most sung American oratorio of the Romantic Era.

The program will also include works by Mozart in celebration of his 250th birthday.

The Chorale’s May performance, entitled “Cinema Choral Classics,” will feature music written for the motion picture screen.

Both performances will be held at St Rose of Lima Church in Newtown and accompanied by the Connecticut Master Chorale Orchestra.

Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 pm and begin in January. The chorale rehearses at South Britain Congregational Church Parish Hall, on the corner of Route 172 and East Flat Hill Road.

The Connecticut Master Chorale is a premiere ensemble of 55 auditioned, highly gifted select singers in the western Connecticut area. The Chorale, formed in 1999, has had many achievements and high honors. In addition to the regular three-concert season, the Chorale has performed at West Point Military Academy, three times at Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, and the White House – all by invitation.
