Charles G. Perry

Devoted Father And Family Man

Charles G. “Gordy” Perry, 75, died at his home, November 24. He was born in Bridgeport, August 5, 1935, to Mary (Pjura) and Francis Perry.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Marilyn Cristini Perry; four children, including Charles Perry, and his wife Jennie, of Newtown; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers; and many other relatives.

A lifelong resident of Stratford, he graduated Stratford High School in 1953, setting state records in the 100-yard dash and for the most touchdowns scored in a single season. He served in the US Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne during the Korean War.

Mr Perry coached the Holy Name Cardinals and played semipro football for the Connecticut Rockets in the 1960s, and was a high school and college football official for 20 years. He worked as a purchasing manager at Sikorsky Aircraft, where he and his team were awarded employees of the year in 1983. He also helped start the Sikorsky Ski Club.

He loved skiing, boating, and camping. He enjoyed European travel and visiting historical sites and National Parks across the United States. He had a great love for laughter and life, and will forever be missed by his family and friends.

The family would like to express its gratitude for the excellent care he received by all of the staff on the eighth floor intensive care unit at St Vincent’s Hospital, and to his many friends for their devotion to his care and well-being.

A memorial service will take place Saturday, December 11, at 11 am, in Our Lady of Grace Church, Second Hill Lane, Stratford. Interment will immediately follow in Lawn Cemetery, Huntington Center.
