Traffic And Parking Rules Set For Christmas Tree Event

The town’s annual Christmas tree lighting ceremonies at the Ram Pasture are scheduled for the evening of Friday, December 4. The festivities are slated to start at 6:30 pm, with the tree lighting scheduled to happen at 7 pm.

To protect the many pedestrians traveling in the area, town police will close a road and put parking prohibitions in effect. The temporary rules will be in force from 5 to 8 pm.

Elm Drive between its intersections with Sugar Street and Borough Lane will be closed to traffic, except for the passage of emergency vehicles.

Also, parking prohibitions will be in effect in areas including: Elm Drive between its intersections with Sugar Street and Borough Lane; Hawley Road; South Main Street between its intersections with Borough Lane and Glover Avenue; Sugar Street between its intersections with Main Street and Elm Drive, and the rear driveway at Town Hall South, police said.

Affected areas will be marked with barricades, traffic cones, and signs. Police will be posted at key locations to assist pedestrians and direct motorists. Motorists who violate the parking prohibitions may have their vehicles towed away by police.
