To The Editor:

It has been brought to my attention by one of my loyal customers that there is a “private” Facebook group of Newtown that has dedicated itself to promoting the “boycotting” of establishments that either have Trump signs outside of their businesses, or are “right leaning” in their beliefs.

Is this really what we have come to in our country? Are we so polarized in our beliefs that we seek to punish people who think differently?

I understand and honor their right to free speech. Perhaps they could try to understand and honor my right to have a livelihood.

I’m not refusing to serve people with differing beliefs, nor would I ever. I don’t understand this level of hostility. It would be really refreshing if we could all just try to be responsible for our own happiness without disparaging others.
