To the Editor:

Dear Newtown residents, former customers of Kesco Electric and Home Improvement Company, St Rose of Lima Church congregants, and friends of Stanley M. Perrone,

As some of you know, Stan has been living with a brain cancer called glioblastoma (a brain tumor) since October 2012. He’s gone through two surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation. He’s had a good outcome and lived well these past years. We lived as long as we could afford to in our home in Newtown but had to sell it four years ago. We’ve missed our community of 40 years but are comfortable in West Haven close to Yale and our children.

However, last year, he was diagnosed with another tumor. Again, he went through radiation, chemotherapy, and infusions. He was in and out of the hospital and rehabilitation health centers most of the year but was able to come home until this past May. Since May, he has been a nursing home. At this point, we have been waiting and hoping for him to come home soon (it’s been in the hands of the state to get a handicapped ramp, custom wheelchair, and 24/7 live-in care), but the months wear on.

As those who know Stan, he has always been a very positive, uplifting man who loved his work, his customers, and friends of Newtown. He especially loved volunteering to do the electrical work for the lighting of the Newtown Christmas Tree! He did it faithfully and enthusiastically every year from the time it started with the Chamber of Commerce and Janet Woycik and Diana Johnson, for over 35 years!

I am asking a favor, knowing it is a very sensitive time of year for Newtown, and keeping families in my prayers since that tragic day in December. I am asking those of you who know Stan (and even those who don’t) to send him a Christmas card or New Year’s card to his nursing home to give him some joy that he’s being thought of. The address is:

Bishop Wicke Health and Rehabilitation Center

Stanley Perrone, Rm. 15

584 Long Hill Avenue, Shelton CT 06484

Thank you, and God bless you.

Karen Perrone

141 Arlington Avenue, West Haven December 4, 2019
