Patricia A. Benkovich

Patricia A. Benkovich, 67, of Sandy Hook died December 22 at Danbury Hospital. She was the wife of Andrew Benkovich. She was born in Manchester, Conn., May 24, 1946, a daughter of Esther (Pitkin) and Carl Schwarz.

Ms Benkovich grew up in Manchester and Atlanta, Ga., and was a graduate of the University of Connecticut.

A resident of Sandy Hook since 1978, she was member of the Newtown United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. An accomplished gardener and floral arranger, she was an award-winning member and past president of the Newtown Garden Club, and was a volunteer at the Newtown VNA Thrift Shop.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Nicholas Benkovich, and his wife Stephanie, and their children, Emily and Courtney; two daughters, Natalie Benkovich of East Greenwich, R.I., and Dr Caroline Cregan, and her husband Scot, and their daughter, Dervala, of Washington, DC; and a sister, Kathy Ogle, and her husband David, of Niantic.

A funeral service will be held Saturday December 28, at 11 am, in the Newtown United Methodist Church, 92 Church Hill Road, Sandy Hook. A private interment will take place at a later date. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, Friday, December 27, from 5 to 8 pm.
