Elder Law Attorney Giving Talk At Ashlar
Elder Law Attorney
Giving Talk At Ashlar
Whatâs the best way to plan for the future should I become incapacitated? Will the state or nursing home take all of my motherâs assets now that sheâs in a nursing home? Should we turn our home over to our children now so the state wonât take it?
Barbara W. Reynolds, an elder law attorney from New Milford, said these are just a few of the myriad number of questions she is asked so often by concerned clients.
On Thursday, May 17, at 6 pm, Ms Reynolds, who was named a âSuper Lawyerâ in the March 2007 issue of Connecticut Magazine, will present a program at Ashlar of Newtown entitled, âNavigating the System: Practical Information for Decision Makers for Older Adultsâ to address many of these important questions and concerns.
Ms Reynolds, who says, âItâs never too early or too late to plan for your future,â will discuss subjects such as reverse mortgages, how to handle legal and monetary issues involving long-term care and assisted living, power of attorney, Medicaid and Medicare, making a will, and more.
She will be available to answer questions and provide practical advice on many of the legal dilemmas one might encounter if a person begins overseeing their parentsâ legal and/or financial affairs, or the related concerns of in-laws, or even oneâs own spouse. Lana Patane, a volunteer at Ashlar of Newtown, will also be on hand to address family considerations when placing a loved one in a nursing home.
There is no charge for the approximately two-hour program, which will begin with a complimentary light supper at 6 pm and will be followed by the program at 6:30.
Reservations are required and can be made by calling Masonicare in Wallingford at 203-364-3109. Callers can also offer up to three questions that will be considered for inclusion into the program by Ms Reynolds.
