'Women Of The Gospel,' A One-Woman Show
âWomen Of The Gospel,â
A One-Woman Show
SOUTHBURY â Pomperaug Woods will host an unusual one-woman show titled Women of the Gospel Friday, June 25, at 3 pm.
Linda Gray Kelley, a noted actress, produces, writes, directs, and costumes her own productions. In Women of the Gospel she portrays a collection of women from the New Testament, familiar Biblical characters. The group includes Mary of Bethany, Herodias (wife of Herod), Martha and Mary (sisters to Lazarus), the wife of Pontius Pilate, Mary of Magdala and others.
Ms Kelley presents a dramatic collection of happy tales and healing stories, with fun, foibles and tantalizing wickedness as part of the script. Her depiction of the women creates a rare balance between a theatrical experience and an emotional experience.
Ms Kelley has appeared in more than 100 productions across the United States, and she has also taught drama in New England schools, sacred drama at churches, and communication skills at medical schools. Her program enables her to bring the audience along with a wide range of responses, with many costume changes and great visual variety as well. Ms Kelleyâs ability to interpret Bible stories is a unique gift that educates and entertains the audience at the same time.
The public is welcome to attend the performance. Reservations are requested and can be made by calling 203-262-6555, extension 111. Pomperaug Woods is at 80 Heritage Road.
