Choral Society Sings Praises Of Its Supporters

To the Editor:

The Newtown Choral Society played to an enthusiastic crowd when they presented their spring concert, “Elvis, Motown and the Beatles,” on May 6 at the Meeting House.

A concert of this scope does not happen without the participation and support of many people. Mary Andreotta, our director for many years, once again created a crowd pleasing and challenging list of works.

This concert we welcomed back Todd Gorski as our accompanist. His professionalism, his musical ability and his patience and good humor were all apart of our success

We wish to thank Shannon Hicks and The Newtown Bee their continued support, as well as Sybil Blau and the News-Times.

Miracle Graphics of Bethel, owned by Newtown High graduate Sarah Gallo, designed and printed our program. We thank them for their contribution.

Our ticket takers for this concert were Daniel J. O’Connor, Jr, and Katie Kent, who deserve a special thank you for their contribution as nonmembers. As is our tradition, we entertained friends, family, and our entire audience at a reception after the concert in the Undercroft of The Meeting House. Every member contributed either food or muscle.

Members Dick Zang and Keith Roberts are to be thanked for help in moving the musical equipment.

Finally, we must thank my husband, Kenneth. As usual, Kenneth lent his computer expertise, his patience and his muscle wherever it was needed.

The Newtown Choral Society, which is in its 20th year, will begin rehearsals for its December holiday concert in September. Under the direction of Mary Andreotta, we welcome new members from all area towns and ask only that new members have a love of singing and a willingness to learn. Call me at 426-3769 if you would like to discuss joining the Newtown Choral Society.
