Lightning Strikes 2, Blue Crusher 0: For the Lightning Strikes, goals were scored by Hailey Wilson and Megan Riccardi. Becca Filiato played well, pushing the ball up on offense. Lily Charles was great in goal and Michaela Cosgriff was determined on defense. For the Blue Crushers, Paige Farley did an outstanding job as goalkeeper. Shannon Jackman and Madeline Patrick played well on defense. Quinlyn Kessler and Gloria Rowley were strong on offense.
Mustangs 4, Net Rippers 1: For the Mustangs, Karsen Pirone and Aniko Walsh scored two goals each. Caroline Tousignant and Emily Tressler had the assists. Meredith Taylor and Nia Orakwue played great defense. For the Net Rippers, Faith OâHara was able to break away to net one for her team. Julia Klein and Gwen Drew played great all-around games. Amanda Conrod and Shea Murphy did a stellar job in goal.
Blue Breeze 1 Lightning 0: In this very evenly matched contest, Emma Magazu scored the lone goal with an assist from Olivia Buchler to lead the Blue Breeze. Mary Celentano also played well on offense. Defensively, Maddie Stites and Katie Stan turned back several attacks, while Sophia Bajcer played well in goal, stopping multiple shots. The Lightning were led by Ciera Jaehn, who played well overall and moved the ball well on offense. Katie Viselli had a good overall game in goal, blocking multiple shots. Nicole Fisher and Hannah Sepp played well on defense, keeping the ball away from the net.
Wildcats 4 Rockets 1: The Wildcatsâ offense was led by Colleen Phaneuf (two goals), Kaley Meisenheimer (one goal and two assists), Laura Augenbraun (one goal) and Ruby Rose Rankin (one assist). Isabella Butler and Erin Phaneuf demonstrated strong ball control while leading the defense. Erin also made two great saves as goalie. Even in a 4-1 loss, everyone on the Rockets hustled throughout the game, with the extra efforts from Julia Gerace and Olivia Steare.

Newtown Sparks 3, Darien Red 2: The Sparks led early in their home season opener with three goals in the first half by Emily Celentano, Nathalie Schickendantz, and Izzy Mawdsley. Lauren Adams played an outstanding game on offense, bringing the ball up the field multiple times. Defensive efforts were led by Sarah Widmann, Jackie Seras, and Kristen Cirone.
Twisters 0, American Eagles 0: In an epic defensive battle, the Twisters and American Eagles battled to a 0-0 tie. For the Twisters, Marit Lyon had multiple shots on goal, while Emma DaSilva played an excellent overall defensive game. McKenna Cuomo shined in overall offensive play and defended her team well with a great performance in goal. For the American Eagles, Allie Reczek, and Cathy Hyeon anchored the team with excellent play in goal, while Izzie Kaiser and Sarah Simonson offered strong support on defense. Kaysie Fisher played well up front, and led multiple offensive attacks on goal.
Newtown Dynamites 6, New Canaan 0: In the home shutout, Jenna Lavelle, Grace Corcoran and Lu Hage scored in the first half with Hayley Harkins scoring once and Alison Kelleher scoring twice in the second half. The explosive attack also came from Rebecca Gavel, Keeley Kortze, Katie Sailer and Brooke Antous, who each had shots on goal. Lauren Carrino was strong on defensive and Audrey Benson and Grace Corcoran each had one save in goal. The girls stepped up their passing game in the second half. The Dynamites are now 2-0 in regular season play.
Newtown Sparks 3, Westport Red 1: Strong defense kept Westport at only one goal with standout performances by Jackie Seras and Madi Ziperstein. The Sparksâ driving force was led by Emily Celentano, Lauren Adams and Carly Swierbut with one goal each. Strong support by Gabrielle Reisert and Kristen Cirone on offense kept Westport on the move.
Dynamite 5, Golden Eagles 4: Sarah Tresslerâs 3 goals lifted the Dynamite to victory. Sage Karp and Merije De Wit each tallied a goal. Madeline Hossler and Victoria Keayes were outstanding in the field. Emma Curtis and Simone Paradis each put two eggs into the nest for the Golden Eagles. Kayleigh Nolan was a blur of wings on midfield, helping feed the forwards while Nicole Keeping showed her Eagle spirit throughout the match.
Twisters 3, Smurfs 2: Veronica Vodola scored two goals for the Smurfs, assisted by Claire Dubois. Angela Vodola and Carolina Stubbs played a strong midfield in the loss. Jackie Mathews scored all three goals for the Twisters. Isabella Galassi was tough in goal, while Elizabeth Salley and Alexandra Toth played great all-around games.

Newtown Panthers 2, Fairfield 1: Down a goal early in the game, the Newtown Panthers came roaring back to edge a tough Fairfield team by a score of 2-1. Alexis Mason, in true âbend it like Beckhamâ form, scored first for the Panthers on a beautiful curving corner kick straight into the goal. The Panthersâ second goal came on a assist by Greta Staubly to Bella Jimenez who punched in a shot in the upper corner of the goal. Tough play by Maria Ringes, Diana Kirkman, Audrey Sedensky, Anna Moscovici, Caroline Conlon, Juliett Grover, and Catherine Shaw contributed to the Panther win, as did Kira Kelly in goal, stopping a number of Fairfield shots.

Newtown Thunder 2, Fairfield Lightning 2: In its first league match of the year, Newtown went up early, only to see Fairfield salvage the tie on a penalty kick late in the game. Julia Sughrue and Hailey Conrad tallied goals, both off of assists from Jessica Maturo. Lauren Beier was strong on defense, while Megan Doyle and Steph Carr were tough in goal.
Newtown Thunder 1, Fairfield Freedom 2: After a scoreless first half, Newtown fell behind 2-0 before mounting a comeback that fell just short. Strong defense by Emily Montoya, Olivia Caplan, and Meghan Kelleher thwarted several rushes by the Fairfield squad. Ally Manfredi played aggressively and displayed superior dribbling skills. Claire Beiter was key at midfield, supporting both the offense and defense. Late in the game, a hustling Megan Doyle scored a long goal off of passes from Jessica Maturo and Hailey Conrad. Newtown pressed in the waning moments, but could not get the equalizer.

Kendra Dunnigan led the transition game from her midfield position, while Lauren Beier was very strong on defense. Megan Doyle and Steph Carr were tough in goal.
Newtown Dynamite 1, Weston 2: The Newtown Dynamite played a tough game against Weston on Sunday. The Newtown offense controlled the first half, keeping the ball in the Weston end most of the half. Weston scored first in the game. Early in the second half, the Dynamite tied the game at one with Ashling Sugarman setting up a goal by Mia Katsuleres. Later in the second half, Weston scored again. Despite a flurry of offensive activity by the Dynamite at the end of the game, the team was not able to capitalize. The defense was led by Emily Montoya and Chloe Rogalin. Katie Elkins was strong in goal for the Dynamite.

Rockets 4, Smiters 0: For the Rockets, Cate Haggerty and Hannah Booth led the way with two goals a piece. Lexi Badick, Kelly Coughlin, and Emma Schmid-Tharnish had solid games overall. For the Smiters, Bridget McDonald, Lizzie Wojcik and Emma DeFlumeri were strong on defense. Kaitlyn McNichols had a great all-around game, and Amanada Martinez was good in goal and at midfield.
Chaos 2, Twisters 1: Chaos took the Monday late game against the Twisters by a score of 2-1. Goals were scored by Jesse Sailer and a late game penalty kick by Sierra Mather. Hannah Grant, Margaret Elkins and Ashley Marks held a tight defensive line, while Chrissy Moore played a great second half in goal. For the Twisters, Tonya Tucker scored its goal as a penalty kick. Strong midfield play was delivered by Savannah Davidow and Lindsey Gallagher, tight defense by Anna Pickney, and solid goaltending by Jenna Hansen.
Swat 2, Opalopas 1: Andrea Rodriguez scored the goal for Opalupas; Callie Kraushaar and Maryyam Ali played a strong defensive game. On offense, Natalie Shaker and Elizabeth Delp played aggressively and led opportunities to score, with Faith Pereira and Megan Olszewski scoring the goal. Hannah Delia played strong on defense and Grace Larsen played well in midfield.

U8
Team Nine 2, Team Seven 2: In a 2-2 hard fought tie, team 9 received scoring kicks from both Johnathan Radatovich and DJ Bobowick. Evan Booth had several nice saves in goal in the fourth quarter and Charlie Graven turned in a solid defensive effort. For Team Seven, Steve Dooley, Logan McAloon, and Alex DaSilva played well. DaSilva played well defensively, helping to keep this to a low scoring game. Logan McAloon and Steve Dooley provided the offensive support for the two goals scored.
Team Five 2, Team Seven 1: The first game of the season was a real nail biter. Both teams played very well. Max Hanson and Joseph Premus from Team Seven had several opportunities to score with Joseph Premus finally finding the back of the next late in the third quarter. Team Seven team tried hard to keep the lead anchored by Kevin Gong on defense. However, Team Five kept the pressure up, scoring two late goals in the fourth quarter to squeak out a win. All in all a very good beginning to the fall season.
Vipers 6, Team Eight 0: Thomas Armstrong was strong with four goals, and William Swierbut had a unassisted goal following up on his own shot. Matthew Jacobs capped off the scoring with a thrilling third quarter goal amid heavy defense. Tyler Dimartino and Ryan Farrell had very strong games and were a force to be reckoned with up and down the field. Team 8 played hard throughout the action-packed game and was a formidable opponent.
Nighthawks 3, Champions 0: Scoring for the Nighthawks were Duncan OâLeary and Jack Petersen. Jack also made three great saves in the closing minutes to preserve the win. Andrew Bazuro, Max Cruwys-Hayes, and Zachary Reilly all played solid all-around games helping the Nighthawks come out on top. The Champions played with heart despite not scoring. Great shots were made by Brendan OâNeill, while Elijah Baraw, Benjamin Paley, and Ethan Paley played great defense. Jacob Hinden and Henry Wishneski also demonstrated great hustle to the ball.
Madmen 0, Titans 0: Riley Ward led the offensive attack for the Madmen with many shots on goal and had lots of help from Chris Shaker and Steven Leuci. Brandon Akbas and Roni Bajraliu worked hard to lead the Madmenâs defensive effort. The Titans were led by a great all-around game Karl Miller. Brayden Deraney and Sam Edwards anchor the defense for the Titans.
Team One 3, Golden Eagles 2: For the Golden Eagles, goals were scored by Hunter Kirkman and Devin Johnson. Sachin Mansukhani made some stellar saves in goal.
Warriors 3, Team Six 2: CJ Cuomo, Bryce Benson, and Jake Pare scored the Warriorsâ goals. Brandon Manka and Fritz Maurath played strong on defense and John Sullivan played well on the field and as Goalkeeper.

Cavaliers 5, Team Five 2: Joe Pagett and Nick Cappelli scored in defeat. Thomas Usher had a strong effort in goal, with solid defense by Sean Manna. Thomas Briscoe had a strong offensive effort. For the Cavs, Erwin Grewal scored twice. Thomas Shkreli scored on a penalty kick and followed with another goal before William Pelisson found the net. Alex Delp and Thomas Hartley were consistent in goal for the Cavs.
Team Two 2, Flying Squirrels 2:
For Team Two, Kyle Gaynor and Matthew Blanco both put forth tremendous effort in goal, making several great saves. Kyle also played well on field, scoring one goal for the team. Daniel Reilly had great effort on the attack, while James Belden offered strong midfield support and scored the teamâs second goal to tie the game. For the Flying Squirrels, Robert DiSibio scored two goals and Ryan Nolan had a great game in midfield and on defense. Todd Petersen and Kyle Sullivan split time in the goal and gave a great effort. Both teams played well and worked hard.

Norwalk 3, Newtown Blue 1: In the first half Newtown seemed overmatched by Norwalk play. While the offense sputtered trying to score on the Norwalk D, Newtownâs defense had a hard time stopping a fast Norwalk team, which quickly scored three goals. In the second half all that changed with a âpepâ talk from coach Alixe. Newtownâs D, led by Connery Mayer, Jack Lavelle and Jack Riley, shut Norwalk down the entire second half. Robert Katrinak, Ben Tuffy, Matthew Guinee, Theadore Silverman, and Matt Tassiello thwarted any Norwalk drives to goal. The offense on the other hand quickly got things going with a Luke Caplan blast off a Dillon Kretz rebound. Thoams Leuci, Sam Grossano, Owen Samson, Nathan Augenbraun, and Alex Hess made deft passes and took multiple shots on goal, keeping the action on Norwalkâs end.
U14
A-Team 4, Dario 0: The A-Team was led by the scoring of Dillon Palumbo (two goals), Kaustav Mitra, and Sawyer Conrad. The A-Teamâs defense was anchored by goalie Patrick Olah and Michael Biancardi who combined for the shutout. Tommie Shaker and Charlie Soto played great defense, while Casper De Wit and Quinlan Hart controlled the midfield. For Dario, Christopher played outstanding midfield and Chris Horkachuck played great defense and a strong midfield. In what was clearly the play of the game, Ryan Szalay made an outstanding full stretch diving save to deprive the A-team of an additional goal.
Titans 5, D5 3: In the first half of the match the teams were close. Titansâ Christopher Anesi scored one and Kevin Arthur scored two goals. The D5 played well, including two goals from Will Roberts, a superb job in goal and two assists from Dan Hamula and a solid effort defensively. In the second half, Elliot Bennett scored first goal for the Titans followed by a third goal from Kevin Arther. John Narducci worked hard, creating excellent scoring opportunities with precision passing. Titansâ Jeroen Schickendantz and James Barry played excellent defense. D5âs Will Roberts scored the final goal of the match.
The D5 5, Predators 2: Patrick Bergerâs two goals and excellent play in goal led the D5 to a 5-2 win over the Predators Monday night. The game was closer than the final score indicates, as the Predators pressed hard and controlled play for much of the game. Tommy Gavel scored two goals to lead the Predator offense. David Csordas and Jacob Anastasi secured the Predator defense with R.H. Clark playing tough in goal. For the D5, Dan Hamula and Jordan Klein both scored goals and Ben Toby excelled all over the field, including brilliant play at striker and defender.
