Struck Flag Pole

Newtown Police report Stephen Czerkawski, 17, of Redding, operating a 2019 Subaru Impreza, was stopped at the stop sign on Church Hill Road at 2:47 pm April 27. While taking a left-hand turn onto Main Street, Czerkawski's vehicle struck the flag pole.

No injuries were reported. The vehicle was not towed.

No enforcement action was mentioned in the report.

Collision In Parking Lot

Newtown Police report Richard Gingras, 80, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2017 Honda Accord, was parked in a space along the side of Walgreen’s on South Main Street at 4:35 pm April 28. Joseph Ceci, 72, of Newtown, operating a 2007 Toyota Camry, was traveling through the same lot. Gingras backed into Ceci’s vehicle.

No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.

No enforcement action was taken since the incident occurred on private property.

Arrested On Warrant

Newtown Police report that Paige Gowans, 56, of Sandy Hook, was arrested on an active PRAWN warrant at 4:51 pm April 27 and charged with second-degree failure to appear.

Gowans was released on a $1,000 cash bond with a court appearance of May 12 in Bridgeport Superior Court.

Struck Vehicle While Parking

Newtown Police report Adrienne Dionisio, 44, of Trumbull, operating a 2020 Ford Edge, was turning left into a parking spot in a lot of 19 South Main Street at 6:43 pm May 1. While parking, Dionisio's vehicle struck a parked and unoccupied 2021 Subaru Forester owned by Joan Dickinson, 76, of Bethel.

No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.

No enforcement action was taken since the incident occurred on private property.

Rear Ended On Toddy Hill

Newtown Police report Quinn Velez, 18, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan, was traveling northbound on Toddy Hill Road at 3:05 pm May 2. He was traveling behind a 2022 Honda Passport operated by Johanna Hillefeld, 53, of Sandy Hook. Hillefeld slowed to turn left onto Surrey Trail, and was rear-ended by Velez.

No injuries were reported. Velez's vehicle was towed.

Velez was issued a verbal warning for following too close.

Cherokee Rear Ends Outlander

Newtown Police report Tyler Reign, 52, of Danbury, operating a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, was traveling northbound on South Main Street at 3:46 pm May 3. He was traveling behind a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander operated by Lawrence Bennett, 65, of Grand Island, N.Y. Bennett stopped at a red light and was rear-ended by Reign.

No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.

Reign received a verbal warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
