To The Editor:

If you are a Senior Citizen like me, you will immediately know where I’m going with the above-title. If not, you may have to Google the old TV police show “Dragnet”. Either way, nearly everyone recognizes Officer Joe Friday’s famous line “Just the facts, M’am”. (The line was actually a little longer, however time has codified it). In this case, to Mitch Bolinsky and his MAGA team attacking Michelle Ku on taxes … “just the facts, sir.”

Here are the facts as to what is raising your cost of living and taxes since Trump’s 2025 inauguration (Newtown property tax mill rate increased 1.95%, compared to present Northeast 3.9% inflation): Gasoline, 46.6%; Fuel Oil, 54%; Natural Gas, 28.1%; Beef, 24.9%; Bacon, 6.2%; Chicken, 5.1%; Milk, 5.1%; Apples, 35.0%; Coffee, 32.5%; and Mortgage, 7.5%.

I graduated with double major degrees in Finance and Economics, and have made a payroll for 35 years. The causes of Trump and MAGA’s cost of living and tax increases are: Tax breaks for billionaires, tariffs and a senseless war driving-up transportation and farming costs.

Just the facts, sir.

By casting false aspersions on Michelle Ku and the causes of the present high cost of living, Mitch Bolinsky is telling us he is more for Trump/MAGA, than for the people of Newtown. The people of Newtown deserve better.

I’m voting Michelle Ku for State Representative because Ku is for you, not Trump and his billionaire tax breaks, tariffs and senseless wars. Michelle and the Governor are working for Connecticut Medicaid and Medicare health insurance, support for middle-class and seniors, and against Trump/MAGA policies that are driving up prices.

Please vote on November 3rd or sooner, early voting starts October 19.
