Closings, Postponements, Delayed Openings Follow Snow Storm

With the National Weather Service reporting 24.3 inches of snow across Newtown this morning, schools are closed for the day, municipal offices have a delayed opening, and road crews continue to work to clear the roadways.EverWonder Children's Museum will remain closed today.Newtown Youth & Family Services will be opening at noon today.C.H. Booth Library will open at 11 am this morning.Newtown Youth Football & Cheer Open House planning for tonight at Newtown High School is being postponed, due to school being closed today. A new date is TBA.College Funding Presentation with John Pearson, Financial Planner, scheduled for this evening at Newtown High School, has been postponed. It will be rescheduled to a later date.NHS boys basketball state playoff game scheduled for tonight at Pomperaug in Southbury, has been postponed to Friday, March 9. The storm caused a number of trees to lose branches or fall completely, many taking utility wires with them. This has added to the cleanup work that needs to be done. A full storm recap will be posted shortly.
