The Newtown and Joel Barlow high school hockey teams will play their first annual Warrior Cup game on Thursday, February 13. The game will be played at Danbury Ice Arena at  5:30 pm. It was originally to have been played on February 5 but snow postponed it. Both teams are joining forces to raise funds to support the Wounded Warrior Project.

Donations will be accepted at the game and online using this link: https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/individual-fundraising/Newtown. The teams are striving to raise $10,000.

The Nighthawks will honor Newtown Police Officer Matt Hayes (a Wounded Warrior) in pregame ceremony, and present him with a special commemorative jersey.

Admission is free for military members and veterans. All donation checks collected at gate or through billing should be made out to Wounded Warrior Project or WWP. Monetary contributions are tax deductible.

More details about the game may be found at each team’s website: newtownhockey.com and barlowhockey.com.
