OBey Theatre Will Present âLifetimes On The Streetsâ
WATERBURY â The OBey Theatre Group and Mattatuck Museum Arts & History Center will present âLifetimes On The Streetsâ in February in honor of Black History month.
Written by Gus Edwards, the play is a dramatic comment on black life in urban America. It is a journey through the heart and soul of the lives of black men and women who have struggled but continue to move toward the light.
Mr Edwards, one of Americaâs leading playwrights and author of Monologues On Black Life, has written about the African diaspora throughout his career.
The Obey Theatre Group is a Waterbury-based troupe dedicated to developing an awareness of black theater and bringing quality drama to the Waterbury area. Founding director Franchone Fraser-Ben Reuben Bey is an experienced actress who produced A Raisin In The Sun and For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf at Mattatuck Museum.
The play will be performed on Friday and Saturday, February 17-18 and 24-25, at 8 pm, and on Sundays, February 19 and 26, at 2 pm.
Admission is $10 for museum members and $12 for non-members.
