Solange “Sally” Manness, 80, of Southbury died February 6. She was born in Puerto Rico in 1934 to Josephine and Manuel Rodriguez.

During her childhood she moved to New York City, where she later wed Robert Manness and moved to Carmel, N.Y., to raise their two children, Robb and Karin. Although they have been divorced for many years, they remained close friends.

Her children Robb Manness of Southbury and Karin Prah, and her husband Jozef Prah IV, of Newtown; her two beloved grandchildren Jozef Prah and Toni-Marie Prah; and her brother, Manuel Rodriguez, survive Mrs Manness. She was loved and cherished, and will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Mrs Manness was an avid reader and often joked that one day she would write her own memoir. She loved to garden, enjoyed crocheting Afghans, was a great dancer, and an amazing cook; but above all, she loved her family, children, and her precious grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating her life will take place Saturday, March 7, at 10:30 am, at St John’s Episcopal Church, 5 Washington Avenue, Sandy Hook. Please note that in case of severe inclement weather the memorial service will be held the following day Sunday, March 8, starting at 11:30 am, at St John’s Church.

The Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere is handling the funeral arrangements.

Online condolences may be made at www.munsonlovertefuneralhome.com.
