Newtown Continuing Education Courses
There is still limited space in the following classes Continuing Ed courses:
Computers for the Absolute Beginner, taught by Dan Tannenbaum of Newtown Computer and Financial Services, allows participants to use the mouse and navigate around Windows, gaining insight into how a computer works.
Wednesdays, two classes starting March 24 from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. Fee is $59.
Learn a Language, taught by experts from Lingual International, allows participants to choose from Spanish, French, German, Italian, Mandarin, Chinese or Portuguese.
Tuesdays or Wednesdays starting March 16 or March 17, ten classes, call for times. Fee is $128.
Signing Babes is a program designed to teach parents and caregivers to communicate and understand infants and toddlers using a combination of American Sign Language and oral speech. The program offers an extensive Sign vocabulary as well as practical and fun methods to use with children who will become Signing Babes.
Classes are March 16, March 25, April 4, and April 6 from 7 to 9:30 pm. Fee is $84.
The Grief Recovery Outreach Program helps people who have suffered a loss either recently or long ago.
Tuesdays, 12 classes starting March 16, from 7 to 9 pm. Fee is $255.
Pride of the Hudson is one of the most elegant ships sailing the Hudson River, wide picture windows and both open and enclosed desks. Included dining at the Torches Restaurant following a two-hour narrated cruise atop the Pride of the Hudson.
Saturday, June 12, departs from Newtown High School at 9:30 am and will return at 6:30 pm. Fee is $84.
Gilletteâs Castle, Griswold Inn, and River Quest Cruise allow travelers to take in the home of actor William Gillette in East Haddam. A guided walking tour reveals the eccentric talents of the owner. Following lunch at the Griswold Inn is a 90-minute cruise along Essex Harbor and the Connecticut River.
Saturday, July 10, Departs from Newtown High School at 8 am and returns at 6 pm. Fee is $79.
