Maplewood To Host 6-Week ‘Science & Art Of Changing Your Brain’ Series

Presented by Dr Kristen Betts, clinical professor in the School of Education at Drexel University, Maplewood at Newtown, 166 Mount Pleasant Road, will host a free, six-week series on “Science & Art of Changing Your Brain,” April 11-May 15, from 2 to 3 pm.

The first five programs will be on Thursday afternoons. The final presentation will be a Wednesday afternoon. 

The series will offer discussions of current and emerging research about the brain, mind, and memory. Attendees will also discuss ways to keep the brain active and healthy.

The series will open on April 11 with “Neuromyths & Research: What You Need to Know About Your Brain & Neuroplasticity;” April 18 with “Reactive vs Reflective Brain: Role of Emotion, Grit, Mindset, & Community on Brain Function”; April 25, “Neurodiversity & Brain Health: Risk and Protective Factors Related to Brain Disease and Injury & Creating Your Action Plan for a Healthy Brain.”

Programs continue May 2 with “Attention, Memory, & Cognitive Load: Increasing Focus & Memory Through Practice & Activities”; May 9, “Mindfulness, Cognitive Flexibility, & Sleep: Recharge Your Mind & Life”; and May 15, “Carpe Diem & ‘Pay It Forward’: Healthy Brain Checklist & Embracing Each Day as a Brain Changer.”
