Drug Charges

Police said that at about 12:45 am on April 5, they stopped motorist Kenneth Tremblay 46, of 72 Engleside Terrace on South Main Street because Tremblay was driving a vehicle with a defective muffler. Police said they smelled the odor of marijuana in Tremblay’s vehicle, so they investigated. A search turned up marijuana and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Police charged Tremblay with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and with driving a vehicle with a defective muffler.

Police released Tremblay on a written promise to appear April 20 in Danbury Superior Court.

Middle School Drug

Newtown Middle School officials received information that a student there was in illegal possession of a drug about 1:30 pm March 29, police said.

Police said one seventh-grade boy brought one capsule of his unspecified medical prescription to school and gave it to another seventh-grade boy.

Police charged the boy who brought the drug to school with illegal distribution of a narcotic. Police charged the boy who received the drug with illegal possession of a narcotic.

Both boys were released for upcoming appearances in Danbury Juvenile Court. State law conceals the identities of people under 18 who are charged with crimes.
