Meditation & Prayer In The Style Of Taizé At Trinity Newtown

A tradition of worship began years ago in the ecumenical French monastic community called Taizé. There is no Eucharist or sermon during a Taizé service, just the experience has the opportunity of deepening faith through the power of prayer. All are encouraged to participate as the Spirit moves them, whether that be in song, prayer, or quiet meditation.

Trinity Episcopal Church holds Taizé services in the darkened, richly resonant space that is its sanctuary along Main Street. Its Taizé services provide an uncomplicated framework for quiet meditation, reflection, readings, and music.

A talented volunteer Taizé Choir and instrumentalists of the Taizé Ensemble are led by Music Minister Fiona Smith Sutherland in the candlelit nave of Trinity.

Trinity will offer its final service of Taizé prayer for the season on Wednesday, May 6, at 7:15 pm. Taizé service will resume the fall.

Trinity Episcopal Church is located at the flagpole, 36 Main Street. Contact the Music Office for more information at 426-9070, extension 11.
