To the Editor:

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon on April 24th, the Newtown Lacrosse Club hosted its first annual golf outing at Newtown Country Club. The fundraiser was held to raise money in an effort to provide nets at Newtown High School's Blue and Gold Stadium. These nets were a number one priority of  Scott Bulkley, Head Coach,NHS.  The nets are to improve and make safer the high speed balls from any potential injury to athletes or spectators alike.  It was a highly successful and enjoyable day of golf, dinner, and silent auction.

On behalf of the Newtown Lacrosse Club it would like to thank the following local businesses for their generous donations:

Newtown Country Club for hosting the event, The Cookhouse, Healthy Pet, Bottlestop, Blue Buffalo, Ricci's Salon, Hero Barbering, Newtown Youth Academy, Koening Frameworks, Fusion 25, Café Expresso, Bagel Delight, Newtown Pizza Palace, The Foundry, Figs, Swenson Granite Works, Picture Perfect Landscaping, Stihl, Sal & Pepe Restaurant, Great Seasons Catering, Iovino Bros., Big Buddha Cigar Lounge, MistyVale Deli, Southbury Stone & Supply, Crossfit Redzone, Bill Flood Golf Pro, Ridgewood Country Club, MediSpa, Nina Nail Salon, Rings End Danbury, Designer Bodies,  Garage Girls Fitness, RSM, Bigelow Tea,  JBL,  and the numerous donations made by all the families of  the Newtown lacrosse community.

Newtown lacrosse provides a strong lacrosse presence in our youth and high school athlete student body and prides itself on giving back to the community. This year's community service project supported local, Brandon Kirch, and the troops of Kandahar Air Force Base.  The boys filled 19 large boxes of donated supplies for the young men and women.  Just one example of giving back.

Through the strong support and dedication by the coaches, parents, school and the local businesses of Newtown we accomplished our fundraising goals and recently installed the field nets the morning of April 30th!

Go Hawks!

Warm Regards,

Nancy Anderson
