Intersection Collision

Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 34 and Toddy Hill Road about 5 pm April 20.

Motorist Joseph Landry, 30, of Watertown, Mass., who was driving a 2003 GMC truck, was stopped at a red traffic signal, police said. Motorist Xiao Zhu, 27, of Southington, who was driving a 2000 Dodge sedan, was stopped behind the GMC, police said.

When the traffic signal turned green, the Dodge moved forward, striking the rear end of the GMC, according to police. There were no injuries. Police said Zhu received an infraction ticket for following too closely.

Super Stop & Shop

Police said they received a call from store detectives at the Super Shop & Shop supermarket at Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street about alleged shoplifting there at about 6 pm April 27, so they went to the store to investigate.

Police said they charged Maria Horn, 48, of Waterbury with sixth degree larceny for allegedly taking $136 worth of store merchandise without paying for it. After processing, police released Horn on a promise to appear May 12 in Danbury Superior Court.

South Main DUI

While monitoring traffic flow on South Main Street, near South Main Marketplace, at about 1:25 am April 28, police spotted motorist Igor Priyemskiy, 40, of Bridgeport driving a heavily damaged 2005 Ford truck, which was moving southward on three wheels.

Police said they stopped Priyemskiy to investigate, after which they learned that he had struck an unoccupied 2000 Jeep Cherokee, which had been parked along the right road shoulder near 231/2 South Main Street. Priyemskiy had kept driving after he struck the parked Jeep, according to police.

Police performed sobriety tests on Priyemskiy, after which they charged him with driving under the influence, evading responsibility, failure to drive in the established lane, and failure to have sufficient automotive insurance.

After posting $500 bail, police released Priyemskiy for a May 16 court appearance.

Chevrolet Vs Dodge

Motorist Lynn Webster, 59, of New Milford, who was driving a 2000 Chevrolet sedan, struck the rear end of a 2005 Dodge truck driven by Heather Matte, 34, of Oakville, which was stopped at a stop sign on Church Hill Road at its intersection with Main Street at about 4:26 pm April 27, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Webster a written warning for following too closely.

Glen Road DUI

At about 5:10 pm on April 29, motorist Lynne Wilson, 46, of Southbury, who was driving a 1996 Mercury sedan, was traveling northward on Glen Road in Sandy Hook, police report.

At that time, motorist Betsy S. Kenyon, 62, of 62 Main Street, who was driving a 2000 BMW convertible, was attempting to make a U-turn starting from the southbound road shoulder of Glen Road, police said.

The two autos then collided, according to police. There were no injuries.

Police said they charged Kenyon with driving under the influence and with making a restricted U-turn. After posting $50 bail, she was released for a May 16 court appearance, according to police.

Hattertown Crash

About 5:20 pm April 23, motorist Zachary Casey, 17, of 33 Taunton Lake Road was driving a 2006 Honda Civic northward near 64 Hattertown Road, when he spotted a pedestrian walking along the road, police said.

Casey panicked and then lost control of the Honda, crossed the road’s center line and then struck an embankment along the southbound road shoulder, police said. The Honda then reentered the road and collided with southbound motorist Thomas Mondak, 47, of Watertown, who was driving a 1996 Dodge van, according to police.

There were no injuries. Casey received an infraction for failure to drive to the right.

Tomahawk Trail

Sometime between 7 am and 7:30 pm on April 25, someone stole a satellite television dish antenna from the roof of a home on Tomahawk Trail in the Pootatuck Park neighborhood, police report.

Police are investigating the theft and ask anyone with information on the matter to contact them at 426-5841 or at 270-8888.

Bridgeport Man

Police said that while on patrol about 7:50 pm April 29, they spotted motorist Jacob Kunz, 23, of Bridgeport driving a vehicle on South Main Street that did not have a front marker plate on it, so they stopped him to investigate.

Police arrested Kunz on charges of failure to display a marker plate and driving while under suspension. After posting $40 bail, police released Kunz for a May 16 court appearance.

Buck Trail Burglary

Police report that on the night of April 24, someone smashed two windows at a Buck Trail home, entered the house and then stole an air compressor from the adjacent garage. Buck Trail is a dead-end side street extending off Marlin Road in the Rollingwood section.

Police are investigating the burglary/larceny and ask anyone with information to contact them at 426-5841 or at 270-8888.

DUI Arrest

Police report that after making a motor vehicle stop on Main Street, near West Street, at about 12:54 am May 1, they smelled alcohol in the vehicle driven by Egson Sanga, 32, of Bridgeport. Police gave Sanga field sobriety tests, after which Sanga was charged with driving under the influence, driving without a license, and failure to drive to the right.

After posting $300 bail, Sanga was released for a May 23 court appearance.

Highway Accident

State police report a two-vehicle accident on eastbound Interstate 84 near the Exit 11 off-ramp about 10:35 am April 27.

Motorist William Reiss, 39, of Danbury, who was driving a 1990 GMC Sierra pickup truck, slowed in the center lane of three lanes because state highway workers were taking control of the left lane for a work project, state police said.

Motorist Iris Radcliffe, 54, of 174 Taunton Hill Road, who was driving a 2005 Nissan Altima, then drove into the rear end of the GMC, state police said.

Radcliffe received minor head injuries in the collision and was transported by ambulance volunteers to Danbury Hospital for treatment, state police said. State police said Radcliffe received a written warning for following too closely.

Glover Avenue

Police report they stopped motorist Joseph Ribeiro, 19, of New Milford about 12:45 am May 2 on Glover Avenue for motor vehicle violations.

Police said they charged Ribeiro with driving while under suspension, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving with a defective windshield, and failure to have brake lamps.

After processing his arrest, police released Ribeiro on $500 bail for a May 23 court appearance.
