NHS Track And Field Teams Earn Victories

Newtown High School's track and field teams continue their winning ways. The girls defeated host Bunnell of Stratford 114-36, New Milford 111-39, and Kolbe Cathedral of Bridgeport 141-8, on May 2. The boys defeated New Milford 78.5-71.5, Bunnell 91.5-58.5, and Kolbe 148-1 at Blue & Gold Stadium, on May 3. The boys also had some strong results from the O'Grady's Relays at Danbury High this past weekend. Highlights are as follows:GirlsBoysO'Grady Relays:

4x800 relay: 1. Emily Neave, Stephanie Edwards, Georgia Filter, Olivia Caplan 10:56.1.

4x100: 1. Brianna Lovely, Jaclyn O'Leary, Hailey Conrad, Carly Swierbut 52.2 9.

100 hurdles: 1. Makenna Cerney 16.9, 4. Audrey Benson 18.8.

100 dash: 1. Swierbut 13.0, 4. O'Leary 13.8.

1600: 1. Erin Tressler 5:28.2, 4. Kelsey Miller 6:01, 5. Willow Pears 6:04.

400: 1. Conrad NHS 62.4, 3. Grace Corcoran 64.8, 4. Rylee Mulligan 66.3.

300 hurdles: 1. Cerney 48.7, 4. Jordan Stofko 53.1, 5. Benson 55.5.

800: 2. Madison Findley 2:36.8, 5. Caplan 2:46.4.

3200: 1. Sarah Mawdsley 11:51.6, 3. Miller 13:00.4.

4x400: Christian Lestik, Joel Duval, Richard Linley, and Cole Terry ran a time of 3:37.5 qualifying for the Class LL state championships.

110 hurdles: Cole Terry 16.1, Brett Deri 16.5, and Cameron Mitchell 18.8.

100 dash: Brett Deri 11.6, qualified for SWC championships, Cameron Mitchell 11.9, and Kevin Arther 12.0.

1600: Joel Duval 4:42.42, qualified for SWC, Ethan Burg 4:45.15 qualified for SWC, and Brenden Reeds 4:46.05 qualified for SWC.

400: Richard Linley 53.2 qualified for Class LL, Jermane Anyoha 56.1, and Brendan O'Hara 58.4.

300 hurdles: Cole Terry 41.5 improved his Class LL time, Bret Deri 43.9, and Cameron Mitchell qualified for SWC with a time of 44.5

800: Joel Duval 2:08, Christian Lestik 2:08, and Dylan Bartlett 2:09.

200: Kevin Arther 24.7, Brett Deri 24.8, and Cameron Mitchell 24.8.

3200: Ethan Burg 10:22 and Justin Helmose 11:57

High jump: Cole Terry 5-6, Sam Duffy 5-6, and Zach Crebbin 5-2.

Long jump: Adam Manes 19-9.5, Isaac Silverman 17-7, and Sam Duffy 16-11.

Triple jump: Connery Mayer 38-11.5, improved his SWC distance, and Sam Duffy 37-8.

Javelin: Grant Untiedt 130-10, Ryan Williams 125, and Maks Koziol 113-9.

Shot-put: Jack Godfrey 46-0, Erik Benson 36-9.5, and Sam Duffy 36-3.

Discus: Jack Godfrey 128-6, improved his Class LL distance, Erik Benson 104-5, and Ryan Williams 104.

Pole vault: Dylan Lew 11-7, improved his Class LL height, Nate Steinebrey 8-6, and Aiden Jasinski 8-0.

High jump team: Sam Duffy 5-10, qualified for Class LL, Zach Cribbin 5-6, and Cole Terry 5-4.

300 hurdle team: Cole Terry 42.60, Brett Deri 42.03, and Cameron Mitchell 45.57, finished third overall.
