Flagpole Photographers Meeting Planned

Professional photographer Brad Stanton will present a program on portraiture at the May 20 competition night of the Flagpole Photographers, who will meet in C.H. Booth Library’s lower meeting room at 7:30 pm. Mr Stanton’s program will offer club members a preview of their assigned subject for competition at their June meeting, which will be “People/Emotions.”

Non-members are welcome to attend the meeting, free of charge.

Mr Stanton has been a professional photographer for 32 years, the last 21 in Danbury. He was reared in Newtown, graduated from Newtown High School and originally located his first studio in Bethel. His basic business is in the commercial field but often does portraiture work for business executives.

His program for the Flagpole group will feature basic setups, lighting, both natural and artificial, and suggestions for taking family portraits with minimum and sophisticated equipment.

The monthly competition assignment for the Flagpole photographers is City or Town skylines. Color or black and white prints up to 16 by 20 inches are eligible for the judging. Mr Stanton will serve as one of the judges as well as two others from neighboring camera clubs.

Members may also compete in two other categories: open color and open black and white, and any subject is eligible for these two divisions.

Club members will also make suggestions for assigned subjects for competitions for the 2010-11 season, which will begin in September.

Visitors or prospective new members may get additional information at the club’s website, FlagpolePhotographers.com or by calling 203-426-2316.
