Student Division

Taunton Press vs McCann Brothers: For Taunton Press, Ashley Silvaggi and Jenna Reilly led the way with their hits. Meghan Chipman and Alea Willis made some great plays in the field while Jagger Helfand was impressive on the pitcher’s mound. For the McCann Brothers Blue Jays, the Jays played hard and had a strong day at the plate including a long blast by Victoria Stevens and several solid hits from Sarah Kick and Nicole Fisher. Lydia Shugrue was a vacuum in the field and had a great pitching outing.

Newtown Mobil vs  Associated Refuse: For Newtown Mobile, Madison Samoskevich and Amyla Posey both pitched well. Olivia Grant and Grace Eurell were strong hitters. Kaitlyn King had a great day fielding the ball. Associated Refuse Blue Thunder had a great performance on Saturday. Danielle Blanco and Camryn Griffin pitched well and were big hitters. Megan O’Brien, Bridget and Joan Gogliettino, Gloria Rowley, Rosie Baron, and Julia Gerace showed fielding prowess and did a nice job with bats.

Dr Beck vs Wubbaworld.com: For Dr. Beck, Margaret O’Sullivan and Emma Shanks were great hitters and Shauna Tucker pitched well. Cameron Powers was great in the field. The Wubbaworld Hornets were sharp on defense; the slick fielding of Juliette Cryder, Annie Fowler, and Ryssa Swanson led the way. The big bats of Erin Phaneuf, Brigitte Marino, and Angela Carriero provided the offensive fireworks.

Newtown Mobil vs Wubbaworld.com: The Wubbaworld Hornets pounded the ball as Grace Waller, Colleen Phaneuf, Juliette Cryder, and Erin Phaneuf led the way. The defense was sharp, as Angela Carriero, Annie Fowler, and Caroline Malin had the hot gloves.

Dr. Beck vs Taunton Press: Practice is paying off for the Taunton Press Purple Penguins, whose skills on the field are improving weekly. Meghan Chipman and Madeline Patrick were impressive on the pitching mound. Ashley Silvaggi and Jagger Helfand contributed defensively in the field as well. Alea Willis and Jenna Reilly were strong catchers. Eliza Roth hit a bomb to left field

U8 Division

Newtown Pools 5, Creative Mailing Services 4: For Newtown Pools, Nicki DePra was outstanding at first base and scored 2 runs, Isabella Morganti was strong with a base hit, and Heather Stroili contributed with great pitching and a quick defensive stop and throw for an out to first. Creative Mailing Services hitting stars were Jaclyn Moccio, who turned in another 5-for-5 day at the plate, along with Carolyn O’Keefe (hit and an RBI) got the Purple Platypus’ on the board and kept the offensive pressure on. Catherine DiMaria (hit) was solid behind the plate and sharp in the field.

Carminuccio’s Pizza 9, Creative Mailing Service 6: Kendra Saunders led Carminuccio’s Pizza, going 4-for-4 with three long hits into the outfield.  Teammate Kimberly Buttery also added four hits and had several unassisted putouts in the field. Gabrielle Calbo pitched a scoreless inning and made an unassisted put out at second base. Josie Hoover was flawless as catcher.

 Carminuccio’s 4, Newtown Pools 3: For Newtown Pools, Emily Krasnickas crushed the ball down the right field base line for a double and two runs batted in. Alexia Tavar had great defensive efforts and Sienna Cummings pitched a great game and scored a run. For the winners, Kim Buttery had two hits and Nina Soriano also had a hit and was stellar in the field. Ashley Solomon was brillant on the mound, pitching a scoreless inning. Left Fielder Lindsay Dievert made an outstanding defensive play when she threw a runner out at third base.

 

U10 Division

Claim Services International 9, Wellbaskets.Com 2: CSI played a strong defensive game to take the win. Jillian Lasorsa had a great overall game, making some outstanding plays at third base, and had 3 hits on the offensive side. Jenna Carvalho also had a strong game with 3 hits and made a strong play throwing a runner out at third. Anna Harrison and Katie Bassett also had some key hits in a big four-run fifth inning. In a tough loss, Lindsay Sherwood had two hits and Abby Hill made two great defensive plays from the pitching mound outs.

Claim Services International 7, Nuzzo Electric 7: CSI battled back to earn a tie. Leading the offense was Sydney Marino, who had 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Anna Cartelli and Rylee Mulligan also had two hits apiece and some key RBIs down the stretch. Sara Matte contributed with a big hit and run in a three-run second. Abby Pereira made some heads up plays at short to prevent more runs from scoring.

New England Bounce About 8, Coalition Equipment 4: New England Bounce About came out swinging and jumped to 4-0 first-inning lead. Hits by Julia Anderson, Kaelanna Dauber, Nicole Lillis, and Grace Erney started the scoring for New England Bounce About. Rose (Samantha) Gully came up with an outstanding catch in left field and also picked up a single. Great pitching performances by Rachel O’Grady, Natalie Shaker, and Casey Muckell aided the win.

DINA 19, Dr Baum Orthodontics 14: DINA won this offensive thriller as Claire Hull blasted 7 RBI and Sarah Spillane collected 4 hits. Jillian Gibney and Emma Cizmazia both made great defensive plays while Tino DiMartino and Courtney DeMeglio both pitched well. For Dr Baum Orthodontics, Alli Morrill, Lauren Villamana, Gillian Ostrofsky, Samantha Cody, and Katie Reilly powered the offense.  Annie Hoffman did a great job pitching. Joanna Vodola and Michaela Jackman were solid defensively.
