Ives Concert Park Is Seeking Donations
DANBURY â The production office at Ives Concert Park is looking for some donations from the public to help the current concert season, and the year-round operations of the grounds of the concert park, run smoothly.
The concert park is situated on 39 acres of the westside campus of Western CT State University. The summer season began this year on July 4 with the return of the popular Fourth of July Fireworks Concert, this year featuring a performance by Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra.
Bob Connor, the production manager and grant administrator at Ives Concert Park, says the non-profit facility is looking for donations of a pick-up truck, a FAX machine, a microwave, an electric typewriter and refrigerators. Mr Connor can be contacted directly at 837-9117.
The Ives is a magnet for live entertainment across the musical spectrum. It has hosted over 300 major musical performances since 1984, with shows by everyone from Bob Dylan to Harry Belafonte, Anne Murray to The Beach Boys. This yearâs schedule includes concerts by Natalie Merchant, The Moody Blues, Jethro Tull, and the B.B. King Blues Festival.
The amphitheatre section of the concert park has a 1,500-seat auditorium and room for another 3,500 spectators on its lawn area. A Jumbo StageScreen assures a good view of the stage and performers from any seat.
There is on-site parking and seven satellite car parks with continuous shuttle bus connection during every event. The park also operates refreshment concessions and a gift shop.
For details on concert dates and ticket prices for any of this seasonâs concerts, contact the Charles Ives Center at 837-2997.
