Actress-Director On ‘Center Stage’

Local public access producer Gene Rosen has created a new program that highlights the wealth of live theater in the area.

The new show, Center Stage, is designed to highlight “the unique and fascinating history as well as current productions of local theater in Charter’s viewing domain,” Mr Rosen said. Center Stage is the latest project for Mr Rosen, who lives in Sandy Hook.

The next episode will present an interview with actress and director Rachael Moreno, who grew up in Newtown and is now working in Danbury teaching the deaf and hearing impaired. Ms Moreno (a former Newtown Bee Hawley School student reporter) did a number of shows while attending Newtown High School, majored in drama while attending college, and is about to direct a show that will open soon in Danbury.

The episode will run on Charter Communications Channel 21 on Monday, July 7, at 8 pm, and then repeat on Wednesday, July 9, at 1:30 pm.

Center Stage debuted in April with a program that featured Evelyne Thomas, a director and producer for The Town Players of Newtown. Subsequent episodes have featured members of TheatreWorks New Milford, Kent Community Players, Musicals at Richter in Danbury, and Main Street Theatre Company in Woodbury, among others.
