Paddlers Club Meeting, July 16

The Housatonic Valley Paddlers Club will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, July 16. The meeting will begin at 7 pm and will be at the CL&P Newtown Service Center, on Barnabas Road. Nonmembers are welcome.

On the agenda is a discussion of recent paddling trips, upcoming adventures, and brainstorming on setting up a lending library. A video on forward stroke technique will also be screened.

Housatonic Valley Paddlers Club is made up of people who enjoy navigating kayaks, canoes, and other human-powered craft over the waterways of the Housatonic River Valley and its watershed, from its headwaters in the Berkshires to its mouth at the Long Island Sound. “Some are in peak physical condition, and others aren’t … [but] all of us have a healthy respect for the river and hope to contribute to its stewardship,” according to the club’s website. The club was formed last summer.

The club is also planning a picnic at Lake Waramaug State Park in New Preston on Sunday, July 13. Anyone interested in joining that event is encouraged to call for information.

Club information and event details are available at 203-263-3281 or www.HVPaddleClub.org.
