Marygold’s On Main has finally had its grand opening, two and a half years after it first opened its doors for business.

The business, located at 19 Main Street in the former Inn at Newtown building, opened to limited seating in January 2021 as the country was still in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a post on the business’s Facebook page at the time, co-owner Kate Neugold said, “We have spent an entire year bringing this special place back to life, and we couldn’t be more excited to open our doors and welcome everyone back.”

The business couldn’t do a grand opening then because of the pandemic, according to Marygold’s Director of Events Patty McCartney.

The final, official grand opening ceremony was held June 22, with members of the chamber and First Selectman Dan Rosenthal in attendance.

“We worked with the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce and the First Selectman’s office to celebrate now,” said McCartney. “It was great.”

The business has been in full swing since the end of the pandemic, long ago leaving behind limited seating.

McCartney said the business is doing family style Sunday night dinners, with each Sunday having a different theme. They recently had a Bingo night and McCartney said they plan to do another sometime in August. There is live music on Saturday nights.

“We just have some really exciting things coming up,” said McCartney.
