What We Need In Hartford

To The Editor:

It’s been a long time since those of us in the 106th district have had a real choice to decide who would represent us in Hartford. On the heels of one of the most bitter local elections in memory, it is refreshing to not only have a choice, but to have a choice between two good men, two class acts without an agenda that both care about Newtown.

I have the utmost respect for Will Rodgers and appreciate everything he has done, and continues to do, for our town on the local level, and I will continue to support him in any way I can in those endeavors.

With that being said, I urge all of you in the 106th district to join me in a unique opportunity to elect a young, energetic, involved, and dedicated young man who will bring an enthusiasm and vitality back to our seat in Hartford. Chris Lyddy was born and raised in Newtown and is extremely involved in town, as his family has been for years. Chris is now serving on the Legislative Council but he is also involved with the Parent Connection, the Prevention Council as well as Newtown Youth & Family Services. If you have not had the opportunity to meet and talk to Chris, you most likely will soon; he is knocking on doors all over town almost every night and every weekend. When you do get the opportunity to meet him, I think you will come away from the conversation with the realization that this young man truly cares about what you care about. He wants to represent Newtown, all of Newtown, and bring your cares and concerns to Hartford. Chris already has many contacts at the state level and Newtown will benefit from having a representative that is part of what will undoubtedly be another Democratic majority in Hartford. Chris will be in a position to build strong coalitions in Hartford as part of that majority and fight hard for equitable reimbursement from the state as well as other issues affecting Newtown.

Chris is a good listener, which is what we need in Hartford: a representative that will listen to our concerns and bring them to the table along with new ideas on how to address these concerns enthusiastically and boldly without alienating others. Chris Lyddy is the right man to be our representative in the 106th District. Contact him at www.ChrisLyddy.com and he will be happy to talk with you. More importantly, I guarantee you will be impressed with this young man after you talk to him.
