Emil Hurtuk

Gifted Musician

Emil Hurtuk, 76, beloved husband of the late Mary Sarna Hurtuk of Stratford, died July 30 at Bridgeport Hospital. Mr Hurtuk was born on November 11, 1929 in Czechoslovakia, and was the son of the late Valent and Maria Dugas Hurtuk.

Mr Hurtuk is survived by two daughters, Susan Hurtuk of Newtown, and Gloria Hurtuk and her companion, Greg Jewiss, of Watertown; three sons, John Hurtuk of Stratford, Joseph Hurtuk of New Hampshire, and David Hurtuk and his wife, Veronica, of Monroe; four grandchildren, Douglas Oliver, Anton, Sterling, and Charisma Hurtuk; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters.

He was a lithographer with the Rexham Company for 35 years and a gifted, self-taught musician.

Funeral services were held on August 3 in the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford with Reverend Andrew Marus, pastor of the Holy Name of Jesus, officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
