Richard J. Fehrs

Enjoyed His Family And Many Activities

Richard J. Fehrs, 60, husband of Joan Szablewski Fehrs, of Sandy Hook, died on July 29. He was born in New Rochelle, N.Y., on March 1, 1946, son of the late Irving and Helen Scofield Fehrs.

In addition to his wife, Mr Fehrs is survived by a son, Richard, J. Fehrs of Sandy Hook; his daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and Robert Moore, of Gloucester, R.I., Pamela and Gary Wasilnak, of Woodbury, and Kristen and Todd Gerrish, of Shapligh, Me.; and twin grandchildren, Lilly and Jason Wasilnak, of Woodbury.

Mr Fehrs was a graduate of J.M. Technical School and he attended Bridgeport Engineering Institute. Mr Fehrs was employed by IBM in Westchester County for more than 27 years. For the past 12 years he had been employed by Executive Business Machine Co.

Mr Fehrs enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his newborn twin grandchildren, and he also enjoyed many activities including racing radio controlled cars, model trains, scuba diving, and camping. Despite working with computers as his career he spent much of his free time involved with computers as well.

Mr Fehrs was a veteran member of Sound Beach Volunteer Fire Department of Old Greenwich.

The family wishes to thank Doctors Michaelis and Walker, and Dr Robert Walker and the caring nurses of Praxair Cancer Center for their care.

Contributions may be made in his memory to Praxair Department, Danbury Hospital, 24 Hospital Avenue, Danbury CT 06810. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St Rose Church, Newtown, on August 2. Interment was at the convenience of the family.
