OBITS (Coopersmith; Paccadolmi; Radasci; Herbert; Ringes)

Victor Coopersmith

Victor Coopersmith, an innovative and influential entrepreneur in the fashion

industry for over 20 years, died September 9 in a boating accident while

vacationing in Arizona. He was 51. He was the brother of Richard Coopersmith

of Newtown.

His body was recovered on Sunday.

Born in Brooklyn, Mr Coopersmith was a charismatic figure whose interests and

benevolence ranged far beyond Seventh Avenue. A connoisseur of the arts, a

board member of the Aspen Medical Foundation, an Off-Broadway theatre producer

and a generous contributor to a wide variety of charities, Mr Coopersmith

helped launch the first Special Olympics program for tennis. He was a

supporter of the Fashion Institute of Technology, the Costume Institute at New

York Metropolitan Museum of Art and NOW Legal Defense and Education Fund.

He began his career in the fashion industry as a salesman for Leslie Fay at

the age of 19, and was named president of the women's division of Damon in the

late 1970s. In 1979, along with the designer, he formed the company Adrienne

Vittadini, which was in immediate success. He left in 1982 to form Coopersmith

Enterprises, where he launched the career of another successful designer.

Andrea Jovine. Jovine and Coopersmith were married in 1989.

Known for his combative and passionate entrepreneurial style, Mr Coopersmith

helped implement new standards in the industry and was instrumental in

developing new concepts. Mr Coopersmith had just embarked on a new life away

from the stress of Seventh Avenue with his wife and young son, Alexander, when

the tragedy occurred.

An all-around sportsman, a fiercely loyal friend, a loving father, husband and

family man, Mr Coopersmith had homes in New York City, Greenwich, Connecticut

and Aspen, Colorado. In addition to his brother, he is survived by his wife

Andrea; their son, Alexander; his daughter Lisa and son Jordan from a previous

marriage; and his parents, Norman and Beverly Coopersmith of Florida.

A memorial service was held September 24, at Greenwich Reform Synagogue, 257

Stanwich Road, Greenwich. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the

Victor A. Coopersmith Memorial Fund, att: Frank Sullivan, 376 Woodside Circle,

Fairfield, Conn. 06432.

Raymond Paccadolmi

Raymond Anthony Paccadolmi, 56, of Route 1, Raphine, Va., died on September

19, at Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville, Va.

He was born in Waterbury on June 15, 1942, a son of Rena G. Paccadolmi of

Raphine, Va., and the late Argeo Joseph Paccadolmi.

Mr Paccadolmi was employed by Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center and was a

retired sergeant with the Newtown Police Department in Newtown. He was a

member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Staunton, Va.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Kathleen Kayfus

Paccadolmi; six children, Deana L. Nilsen of Charlotte, N.C., Michael T.

Paccadolmi of Atlanta, Ga., Julianna M. Paccadolmi, Calab J. Paccadolmi,

Gabriella A. Paccadolmi, Lily M. Paccadolmi, all at home; and two

grandchildren, Dominic M. Nilsen and Mary K. Nilsen.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on September 22, at St Francis of Assisi

Catholic Church in Staunton, Va. by Father John A. Abe. Burial was private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Guardian

Angel Academy, 410 West Beverly Street, Staunton, Va. 24401.

Marjorie E. Radacsi

Marjorie E. Radacsi, 86, of Fairfield, a retired LPN, died September 17, in St

Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport. Mrs Radacsi was the wife of the late

Bert Radacsi and mother of B. Daniel Radacsi and Gerald F. Radacsi of Newtown.

She was born in Red Bird, Neb., November 11, 1911. She had been a resident of

Connecticut since 1917, lived in Newtown from 1945 to 1966, and for the past

30 years in Fairfield. Mrs Radacsi did private duty nursing and for a time was

a nurse for Helen Keller. She is survived by another son, John E. Radacsi of

Farmington, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. The funeral was

held September 21 in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Burial

was in Newtown Village Cemetery.

Ethel M. Herbert

Ethel M. Herbert, 76, of 48 Hanover Road, Newtown, died September 22 in her

home. She was the wife of the late Philip E. Herbert.

She was the proprietress of Herb's Electronics of Monroe.

Mrs Herbert was born in Wilkes-Barre, Penn., September 4, 1922, a daughter of

the late Joseph and Maude Marsala. She was a resident of Newtown for the past

37 years and was a longtime member of and Sunday School teacher at the First

Assembly of God Church, Brookfield.

Mrs Herbert is survived by a son, Philip E. Herbert, Jr, of Hamlin, Penn;

three daughters, Phyllis Mock of Daytona, Fla., and Rosalie Piccirillo and

Geraldine Kelley, both of Hamlin, Penn.; seven grandchildren and 12

great-grandchildren; four brothers, John Marsala of Shelton; Joseph Marsala of

Stratford; Peter Marsala of Fairfield; and Clarence Marsala of Seymour; and

two sisters, Ruth Parry and Mary Varrone, both of Stratford.

A funeral service was conducted September 24, in the Honan Funeral Home, 58

Main Street, Newtown. Cremation will take place at Mountain Grove Crematory,

Bridgeport. Calling hours were scheduled for September 24 from 4 to 8 PM.

Nicole S. Ringes

Nicole S. Ringes, 2«-year-old daughter of Mark and Dawn (Demianczyk) Ringes of

Sleepy Hollow Road, Sandy Hook, died September 17 in Yale-New Haven Hospital.

She was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, March 30, 1996.

She is survived, besides her parents, by her maternal grandparents, Theodore

and Anne Demianczyk of Pittsburgh, Penn., and her paternal grandparents,

Gerald and Ina Ringes of Canton, Mich.

A Funeral Mass was held at Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, Pittsburgh,

Penn., September 22. Burial was in Union Dale Cemetery in Pittsburg.

Avenue, Pittsburgh, Penn. 15215, or Tommy Care Fund, c/o Yale-New Haven

Hospital, 20 York Street, New Haven, Conn. 06504.

Arrangements were by Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
